Story

I was under the impression while this investigation was going on that there was absolutely no doubt the peerages had been sold.

Does this prove the story was over-hyped or that the government enjoy immunity from the law which us proles don't?

    I think the CPS were nobbled, just like they were with the BAE scandal.

    I does sound a bit 'iffy'. There has been leak after leak saying Lord Cashpoint and Ruth Turner were to be questioned again and again. Now suddenly nobody has done anythin wrong.

    Sounds like the CPS got nervous.

    I suspect its a bugger to get evidence that they'd actually sold peerages. Its not illegal to give them to people who donate lots of money to your party...

    That is the crux.

    Most of the evidence will have gone through the shredder a long time ago, but I'm still pretty certain that the CPS were given cold feet...

    It would have been done on a nod and a wink. No paper trail.

    I think there quite a few donors in the Lords who got in on the understanding, never quite said, that if you give enough to your party you get the ermine.

    can't say i'm surprised, we don't really need the CPS to tell us politics is corrupt do we?

    Corruption non-shocker!

    I expected everyone doing the inquiry to suddenly get a title.

    I only have two thoughts about this story;
    (1) That Ruth Turner is pretty cute in a girl-next-door way;
    (2) What is the present going rate for a peerage in the House of Lords? Lord Stargalaxy does have a certain ring to it.

    'makes me think of the great storm of 48 when we lost all those documents'

    'there was no storm in 48'

    'the few records we have say we did'

    yes minister classic quote (paraphrased)

    I know, but normally you are distracting people by ranting about those leftist New Labour people bringing in communism, banning happiness and hugging immigrants.

    Whilst the rest of P&D distracts people by ranting about that awful Mr Cameron who wants to... bring in communism, ban happiness and hug immigrants too, by some coincidence.

    He does? I didn't think that he actually had any policies at the moment - except the one to get himself photographed as often as possible.

    Actually I don't worry about him anymore. The recent by-election results show that he isn't long for the chop :thumb:
