I'm Fucked, Please help me

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I am truly fucked. I am bright, I come from a nice background, not poor, not rough. I am intelligent, for my G.C.S.Es this summer i got:
1 C
5 B's and
4 A's
However, i have absolutly no idea what the hell I'm going do with myself. I have started my As levels and i have chosen Sociology, Psychology and Media. I've only been at college for a few weeks but allready i find myself daydreaming in lessons and thinking 'what the hell am I doing here?'. Does anybody have any advice to give me because im getting very depressed and stressed out because i have no idea where my life is going. help me.

For a start, try to be optimistic about your exam results - you got 4As, 5Bs, and a C - start with the most important first! Apart from this, I would talk to your friends, family, and people at college - if you really think you've made the wrong decision, talk it over with them. I know it's a cliche, but it's good to talk!

    Travel broadens the mind.
How about do the a'levels then take a year out.
It will give you time to see a bit of the world and figure out what you want to do.
how about planning a round the world trip now - begin saving, then you know that when you have done and got your A lavels you will have something you want to do.
Even if it's just travelling to Ireland to work on Organic farms for 6 months (WWOOF - Willing workers on Organic Farms)

    good advice Byny...

Definitely fag_bong go for a travel... Find some work. Workout what you enjoy doing. Once you have that, you will know where you want to go. WWOOF sounds fun. Wish I had then when I was looking for a year off... (15 years ago!)

It's hard to take time out when you have a full time job but you can do wwoofing in Ireland for a short while. try gettin in toouch with the wwoof people. Basically you get to stay on some cool farms and do some work at the same time and they give you a bed and food in exchange, they do it in other countries too. http://www.wwoof.org/

byny - thought you were taking the piss about that wwoof stuff, but it actually sounds pretty cool.

fag_bong, i really dont know what to suggest, but what everybody has said here is adivce i think you should consider (made sense to me anyway!). if your a-levels are really boring you, consider changing them - no harm in that, and from the sounds of it they seem to have been pretty arbitrary choices (i might be wrong).

i'd advise you to stick it at college though. a friend of mine, sounds a lot like you, is hopefully gonna get a RAF commission if she can hack the rest of her a-levels. but dont give up, and dont take any steps unless you fully consider the consequences - years out, changing courses, forces career. talk it over with someone - your college should provide some sort of careers advice or counselling that can help you through this.

Workings for losers......enjoy the student life while u can because at 365 days a year its not exactly tempting. Sounds harsh but just one month in a factory made my mind up. Don't go there, aslong as your doing something positive your on the right tracks........plenty of time to decide but don't put yourself through any unecessary mind numbing labour while u do.....good luck

Get a Market stall, sell something. Look around for warehouses to buy cheap from, find a local importer (the Web is full of helpful souls in this kind of area).
Do something for your self, look around, who has the life now, that you want? How did they get there. A levels and Uni are not so imnportant, you can do them any time in your life if you want to do them. What's important is how you feel in your life right now, Carpe Diem, as they say, and it's true.
Try something, if it don't work, figure out why and try something else. You don't need tons of cash to get going, you just need to get going.
I went to college and Uni because all my friends did, I was top set and that's what you did. I didn't choose, I just went along. DON'T JUST GO ALONG.

I am now in my second year of A Levels, and went through very similar feelings that you have described last year. I decided to stick with it, and am very glad now that I did. It helped me a lot to make sure that I made time to do other stuff, and didnt end up just doing homework all the time. Good luck. Sx
