(and I know it's not the PC/Vista because I used to get it alot on my dad's laptop which has XP on it)
Several times I've tried loading Championship Manager but keep getting told not to use a back up disc/insert an original (non-copied) version of CM2007. However, my copy is non-copied and I haven't got a back up disc for this game or any of the games I have/have had.
Anyone know what's going on please?

go there, get a NOCD patch for it, install that, and bang you wont need the disk at all..
