Ecstasy Reconsidered

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Went out Clubbing last night and picked up a book called Ecstasy Reconsidered from a stall in there. Written by the late Nicholas Saunders (of ectasy.org) with bibliography by Alexander Shulgin and at 350 pages long it's the ecstasy bible.

It's worth getting if you seriously want to know more about this amazing drug. From research, to dance culture, risks, benifits, test results of pills and what to do if something goes wrong ...it's got the lot.

Price is usually £10 but I picked it up for £6 and the ISBN is 0 9530065 0 6 incase anyones intrested.

It's not as though I've got anything to gain from it!

...but people who are serious about taking ecstasy, might gain a little from some proper info about effects and consequenses that the drug might have.

I just thought it was a quality book, O.K!

    education & safety

it just shows, if this sort of thing was readily available so many lives would of been saved, i was watching an open uni programme on british modern cultures, mods & rockers etc etc anyway it got onto the rave thing late 80's which lead to drug culture, it went through the leah betts episode, and her dad, the man i hate with a passion appears to be admitting he's wrong and is re-considering his stance, he was saying after all these years trying to stop kids taking it through scare tactics, hasn't worked one little bit and he concedes that if people are going to do it then we must make it as safe as possible through education and a review of the law which forces everything underground, ironic really, as such approaches would of certainly saved his daughters life. It seems slowly people in power are realising the 'just say no' message simply doesn't work, and a phrase like 'if you must play, play safe' would be more appropriate the shame is they view this as defeat, which is silly, its not a game, its just a case of doing what's best for all concerned.

Any intesting facts and figures 'skive ?

I might invest, i scared my mate the other night, he was lecturing me on the evils of pills when i let rip with a mass of facts, figures and opinions ! he stood and just said well it certainly doesn't effect your memory we just cracked up

I've seen that book, and read a bit of it. It has the official government description of what a rave is, which I found quite amusing...

yes, when you look at the whole leah betts story its one long line of mistakes by all concerned, yet they still seem reluctent to admit they got it wrong the very policy that her dad has been charging promoting is the very same policy which ended her life, its fucking crazyness.

    *agrees wholeheartedly*

Well put mate, if they thought about saving lives instead of giving Churchill-esque speeches about "winning the drugs war!!!" then maybe common sense would prevail over sensationalism and scaremongering... we can but hope.

I'd like to get a hold of that book.
