20 Wk scan

Hi everyone, as promised I'm here to update you as we had our scan today.
Everything was great, baby is fine and abit of a poser by looks of it. - Also very co-operative!
We are 90% sure we are having a little girl too :)

the names i want for girls are: Maryam, Sophia and Nadia

but i think something not too trendy...you dont want her to be one of 5 with the same name in her class/circle of friends :p So call her Amira ;)

She's adorable! You're so lucky! What about Amelia then?

I really like Madeline - way before she was tea leafed, Edith, Enid, Alexis, Lucinda, Matilda, Holly, Olive and all the other traditional names in the book.

That would be a right pain in the arse, tbh. It does seem that some people have no imagination these days. (my dad's family were terrible like that in the 1900s - the most popular name was William and there was a man called William Charles who called his son Charles William)

Personally, I would choose a name that was unique, but not one of those names that are really hard to spell/say.

    Congratulations, btw!

I'd like a name that's not too english, maybe abit Italian but something easy to pronounce

    Xanthe? (that's pronnounced Zan-thee, btw)
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Maybe somethin slightly more tradiational than that!

You're not going to be one of those awkward parents who don't spell their child's names properly, are you?

Some people just prefer traditional names, not because they don't have imaginations.

Sabrina is nice ;) although it's not really Italian, I think there's a Welsh legend floating around somewhere

Thinking of the women in my family, we have: Sophia, Emilia, Lina, Lucia, Martina, Maria (dozens of those), Claudia, Mia, Lia, Rosalia, Marianna, Marilena, Elena, Carmela, Daniella, Antonella, Chiara, Luana, Francesca, Giulia (pronounced Julia), Irena (pronounced ee-rena not eye-rina, wouldn't really sound right in the UK, but sounds gorgeous in Italian), Congetta (v. traditional, getting a bit Godfather-esque!), Gera, Alessandria, to name a few!

    Lovely scan pics

The scan pictures are beautiful. Hope you are well x x x

Edit: Didn't realise you were only in Leyland, I am near Blackburn ish :)

i thought anais was pronounced an-ay. I think Sophia is really pretty for a girl, i liked amy for ages but then it became really popular and that would put me off, same with Lucy. I loved the name Imogen for ages too , after the girl in Down to You when there was no one called that, but then BB 2006 happened and now its one of the most popular girls names. Grr.

ETA: the pictures are beautiful janjan, you must be very proud! Good luck with your pregnancy!

my mum says it Annay, but I prefer it pronounced Annays.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
i vote for Francesca if you want something Italian-ified!
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
My sister is being fussy with girls names but they have : Isabelle, Courtney and urm that's about it!

But you say 90% sure its a girl - you better think of some boys names too just in case!
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
