I have been asked for one of each - but what is the difference between the two?

Thanks

One is from your ex employer, who can verify the skills that you say you can do etc, be able to confirm your work commitment and the like.

A character reference is one that you can get anyone to do - who can tell prospective employers what you are like as a person - honest, etc.

Does that make sense? It's still early :p
