Oh my god. Google buys another website for 3.1 billion!

Google bought DoubleClick (an advertising website) for 3.1 billion, and not in stocks this time like they did for 1.65 billion with youtube, this 3.1 billion was in CASH. Makes you wonder how much they are really willing to pay for some websites.

    moderator: delete link if needed.

I just thought it was an interesting figure. I dont think 3.1 billion changes hands in one transaction daily.

Perhaps not but the in-your-face links in your signature seem to be more than spam IMO.

I was shocked by the £3.1 billion figure as well, but the DoubleClick business will be really lucrative and they already have google adwords, I think Google are after total world domination!

I imagine that in the future, if it is not already happening, google will control more than 60-75% of the web advertising. They control alot of the internet advertising now, but they should get bigger with this aquisition.

I found that the banner advertising from Doubleclick to be annoying in the 8 years that I've been online. They were always cookie-ing computers too. I am glad that Google have taken it.

A wheelbarrow the size of Tony Blair's ego or a small country.
