Just a thought...

I wasn't quite sure whether to post this in Politics, or Drugs, but well, I chose this one . It's probably been thought of before, but here goes anyway:

Our government grants each individual to practise religious freedom, does it not? Well what if a religion were to include say, ritual cannabis smoking?

Would the government see this as acceptable? Or would they imprison anyone practising this religion, thus opressing their religious belifes?

I reckon they'd go for the former, but if anyone knows better, please post!

Good point there , i have to go with getting arrested you know how goverments are they say one thing but they do something else
I would not trust them , there is no such thing as freedom of anything or there is but only as long as it suits them

I think that if your religion dictates that you must smoke to be able to pray to your god, then you can get permission from the david blunkett to grow and smoke your own.

Sorry – that defence has been used, but without success!

However, under class. C no one will risk arrest for possession anyway!

There's actually been talk of taking a less harsh approach to punishing groups like Rastafarians (sp?) over issues like weed. It came up recently because a guy's sueing a judge who threw him out of a courtroom for not taking off his hat that he wears for religious reasons

So Seikhs are allowed to wear turbans, but Rasta's aren't allowed to wear their hat? (I don't know what the hats are called)

    That hardly seems fair
