ok.I'm angry.I'm a life long Raver(embarrssed you admit it, but there you go)Who is, quite frankly, pissed off at the way all people who are interested in the Whole of rave culture in general as the kind of people who go specifically to take drugs. This is not true.

I have been going to raves for the past 6 years, and the treatment of our kind(the ravers) is piss poor.Numerous clubs all across the country have been shut down, because of a few mindless idiots who think that they need drugs to have a good time.this is bollocks.I have taken drugs at raves, yes, but after listening to the music properly (which is what it's all about, after all)I came to realise that I din't need them to to get the most out of the music and the atmosphere. Any one who has listened to happy hardcore on a pair of headphones will vouch for this.

People that want to take drugs will take them before they enter a club. The searches at the door are for knives and the like, to keep a nice and safe attitude.I know promoters that have lost thier livelihoods because of deaths on the dancefloor.FACT <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/redface.gif">ver 90% of people that have collapsed on a dancfloor have done so through exhaustion.Solution?Lucozade.That's what I used for 5 years.

Police that decide to raid an event for drug related purposes are idiotic and are wasting their time.Besides, what is the point of destroying everyone else's fun because a few people want to mess with their own minds?

Police should fuck off and arrest the knife wielding Idiots in the "Sharon and Tracy" clubs instead.Clubs and event promoters like Kinetic and Pleasuredome lost their clubs and appeal to the Rave-going public because of Paranoia about what all those people were turning up for a bit of music. These guys put on a fucking good show week-in, week-out. It is wrong to tar us all with the same brush. I'm a raver, not a fucking drug-addict.
Leave us alone. We enjoy what we do and who we are. A rave is just about the only night out you can have without seeing a fight, or at least the aftermath of one.

Finally, once more, leave us alone. We're sick of this bad publicity which is killing this otherwise excellent way of expressing one's emotions.

Hmmm... I guess we could call this constructive criticism...

You're right, the picture on the front page *was* a clubbing photo and was originally used alongside a trail for a story about drug safety in clubs.

Recently the trail changed, but the picture didn't. You'll be pleased to know we've changed it now.

    As for your threats of defamation, I can't wait to see your character witnesses in court <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif"&gt;

BTW - any luck with the "ladies"?

Im not really bothered about what others think of drugs. These old bids seen me smoking dope in public and have a go at me "yeah im an ex heroin and speed addict, yeah I occasionally smoke crack and drop acid, screw you". Just not bothered about the issue at all.

U gotta admit more drugs r at raves than other places.
Hate to say this a lot of organisers of raves, especially the illegal ones set em up for dealing.
U really think they organise illegal raves for no reason except for the music. They make loadsa money from dealing there.

I cant stand raves personally... loadsa little idiots dancing round in stupid clothes.
But saying that loadsa my mates go to raves... n they all take drugs there... cos it enhances it... alot of them wont go to a rave if they havnt got drugs, guess it must enhance the expierience or summing.

fair enough.a lot of drugs are at the more seedy events, but not at places like kinetic and pleasuredome who lost it all because of a couple of well publicised (though isolated) cases of abuse BEFORE entry to the clubs-you can't stop anyone doing this.I used to go to illegal raves when I ws short on cash, and quite frankly they were crap.when the scene first started out, there were police entering these raves and not having a clue why people were reacting to the music in this, dare I say it, "spaced out" way.so immediately, they gave the reason"they must all be off their heads on drugs".they just didn't understand. This may sound stupid, but I know the music and the scene very well and I don't need drugs when I go to a rave because I feel the mindfuck of the music.when there's a 120k sound system banging out hard trance or techno, it's hard to do anything else. It's hard to describe the feeling when you've been in love with the music for so long. It's just euphoria.I won't be continuing with the dafamation thing btw, i was kidding.I just get really pissed off when I tell someone I go to raves and have been to them, and they are either thinking or actually say "were you there for the drugs?" Despite this, I would like to say that if people are going to take drugs, take what you can handle-don't get greedy, and if you want to progress, do so slowly. That's how leah betts died.know what the risks are, and make sure you combat these risks accordingly.otherwise you are just a mindless dickhead.

I still don't see what the problem is with people taking drugs that are relatively harmless any way. It's a matter of choice.Police should arrest the rapists, nonces and murderers in this country.the victims of these crimes don't have a choice in whether or not they become a statistic-drug users do.

    keep on jumping...

Doubt it somehow. Most raves r seen as easy places to deal at, at Bagleys in London some1 I know got rid of 1000 pills in 1 night. If u go to a normal trendy club ur lucky to get rid of 50.
The raves I've been 2, both legal and illegal I reckon 90% of the people r on drugs of some kind, a trendy club I would say %10 of people r on drugs, n just decent places about 50% of people r.
