Your colour

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
How do you know which is 'your colour'? What are the keys to finding out?

I have dark hair (almost black), white skin and brownish green eyes (just so if anyone feels like advicing which colour best suits me :D ).

A friend of mine though said that your colour depended not only on your physical characteristics but also on your personality.

If there are any beauty/fashion experts out there, what's your opinion on this? Any inpunt appreciated, thanks.

Do you mean what colours suit you best?

If so, I think that the blue of my Co-op uniform and of my Canoe Club kit suits me well, along with brown. I reckon I look better in bright colours than pale ones, like pastels and whites.

    Yup

I've always thought red suits me because it makes a good contrast with my dark hair. I also like to wear blue but sometimes I think I look too pale in it.

I would love to have an expert tell me though. That colour me beautiful place looks cool! Shame i don't live in Britain though. I saw they have a wide international coverage as well, but my area isn't covered. :(

I'm going through a self-image indulgence phase right now, it's the first time in my life I think I'd be ready to spend some serious money on my looks. I'd love to have a makeover, but I don't know where to start tbh.

Well if you have some money saved up, you can always go to a department store and book a personal shopper to help you out, I'm sure they must have that in the states like they do in the uk. If you are short on cash, perhaps you have someone in your life that always seems to dress well? You could ask them if they could help you shop for some new outfits.

Also, visiting a beauticians for a makeup lesson could give you new ideas on how to apply your makeup for daytime and evening looks or alternatively you could visit the beauty counters at a department store and get a free makeup makeover!

You could get your hair done, this is a sure fire way to give yourself a new look.

Those are great ideas Pink Angel.

In fact, the link you posted inspired me to search for a local place that did something like that, and I think I may have found something, so thanks! :D

I would say black but it's not a colour.

Dunno, non-garish colours seem to do it for me as I have quite dark features.

black is a colour in the same way that 0 is a number.

Deep red, dark green and turqouise are the colors I usually get complimented on.

You don't need them. Just hold clothing up next to your face and look in a mirror, you'll soon see if it's right for you or not!

Mostly it's more to do with shade than actual colour I think.

I mostly stick with black and white. Hasn't failed me so far ;d. The only place I really wear colour is on my eyes .

I never really take notice of what colours I should wear... I seem to suit most of them; I wear a lot of different colours anyway. Probably the ones which suit me best are brown and yellow, cos my eyes are brown and I wear a lot of blue, it seems to compliment brown well... and green too.

I agree with Miffy that it's more to do with the shade than the colour.

sounds like you have similar colouring to me, and my colour is red. Dark hair and pale skin with red goes well. I also like all shades of blue, especially royal/darkish blue. Tend to avoid wishy washy pastel shades.

Brown seems to suit me really well, it can get boring though. Green and Purple looks good on me too because it's an eye catching colour that doesn't drain me/clash with my hair. I can probably get away with blue too but only dark. White really suits me but it tends to make me look fat. Can't wear red/orange/yellow/pink/turquoise. Black tends to drain me aswell so i try not to wear black tops.

Hmm I don't tend to think about colour too much, but I think white, turquoisey colours and dark army green suit me. Don't tend to wear pastel colours cos they wash me out.

I'm so pale I could almost be an albino!

I have naturally brown hair but it's blonde at the moment.

My colour has always been red - not dark reds but vibrant ones like this and this.

I also suit greens and purple.

I definately don't suit pinks, beige/browns or yellow as they make me look even more pale and washed out. I don't erally suit white either.

Yes, red and royal blue are the best ones for me too I think .

I do own several pastel pink clothing as well as brown though. The browns aren't doing me much of a favour I've realised. I'm still undecided about the pink.

I've got quite fair skin and almost platinum blonde hair. I wear a lot of black for work, quite a few neutral colours, but blue also suits me really well. My favourite top of the moment is a turquoise blouse from topshop. It goes well with everything and it's a great spring colour.

    Black and Navy. Yup.

This is definitely about shades, not colours! Your skin tone will govern whether you suit warmer or cooler shades of a colour. I have dark brown hair, brown eyes, and my skin tans easily, so I seem to suit bright colours and look washed out in anything pastel. I also look much better in black than brown, and don't own a single piece of brown clothing.
I think you should just go shopping and try on tops of various shades of a colour, and you'll develop an eye for what suits best.

I've got mid brown skin, dark hair and dark eyes. I think light antural greens suit me, so I looks like a tree in spring I does.

Dunno, lots of cream, white, blue stuff seems to suit me.

Anything pastel looks twattish on me. Oh and navy, but like i'd even wear navy.

Bright pink, bright yellow, blue, black, white, red blah blah blah all seem to suit me. Depends on what colour my hair is.
