Anyone got / want a tatoo?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
When I'm 18 I'm gonna get a tatoo on the base of my spine; I think an angel or a rose would look real cool. Has anyone on this forum had a tatoo done? if so, does it hurt? My sisters friend had one done and said it was like a knife scraping slowly at ur skin... sort of put me off! lol. Also I'm curious, is anyone also thinking about getting one done like me?

I'd love a tattoo - either on the base of my spine, my ankle, my shoulder or side of stomach. Except i'm a bit self-conscious of my stomach. Ankle would be sore. So mayb shoulder or spine. I'm not sure wot i'd like - nothing chinese....they;'re really unoriginal. I think i'd see the one i want, and i'd know it be the one i want. My sister's got two done (or perhaps three) and hers are really nice, and fairly tasetful. Sometimes u see ppl with loads, and they look horrible and tacky. I'd like mine to be really different and nice. Hope it looks good on u

If u can take the pain go 4 it.

I`ve never had one but I know someone who is completely covered in them and his latest one which will eventually cover all of his back, has cost him about £200 and it isn`t done yet (although it does look kool). He said for him it just started with a little skull and crossbones so I`m not sure what I`m trying to say here but just don`t go nuts!

It hurts loads, but it is bearable. I have a symbol thing on my shoulder, I designed it and it's pretty damn neat!

i want a load, about 6. i'd have a slipknot $ on my right shoulder, a useless generation rose in my right tricet, the inside panels of the box from hellraiser around the enire of my upper left arm. a barcode on my ass. a dragon on my left leg. and this mad huge tribal pattern over all of my back. not that i've got any yet, but that's what i'd eventually like to have. better start saving up...

as for the pain, i have a few really faint tattoos that i did myself, and they hurt, although i'd imagine it'd hurt more if it were done properly. but then again, i like pain, so i cant wait to get some.

I really want a tattoo but I'm not very brave lol. My mum and dad said I could have one too so that's kewl. I want one of an angel or a fairy or something like that probably on my shoulder blade. I did want one at the bottom of my spine but that's meant to be soooooo painful! lol.

I had one on the bottom of my spine, at the same time as my friend had one on the bottom of her spine. I thought mine quite hurt (but not unbearable) and she said hers hardly hurt. A couple of weeks later the same mate went to have another tattoo on her shoulder blade and she said it absolutely killed, she was nearly crying! I guess its your pain threshold or something I dunno.

I want an anthro dragon on my back, a black cat on my arm and the Japanese word for peace on the other arm. I'd like maybe a dagger on my leg and something on the lower part of my arm. I love tatooes and piercings.

So with one hand on the wheel
The other out the window
With a smile on my face
My middle finger up...

I love tattos and piercings too, i have 10 piercings and a tattoo, and i'm getting another one done as soon as i can afford it. Advice on tattoos - get it done somewhere fairly fatty, not on bone or organs - i had mine done half over my kidney and half on my ribs at the back, and the bottom half (the bit over my kidney) hurt SO much. Yeah it's kind of like a knife scraping under your skin, but it burns too. My b/f had a tattoo done on his arse and he said it didn't hurt as much as having your nipple done (but that kills too). Have fun!

I've got 3 tattoos!

One pure mistake when I was 16, on the top of my right arm, a butterfly sitting on a luv heart - so not cool! Thinking about getting it covered!

On the base of my spine I have a the Cream symbol, this looks really awesome, everyone who see's it loves it! Caused a real stir at Creamfields!!

And on my side I have the Japanese symbol for love!

The Cream one hurt the most because it's the biggest!

Just go for it, what's a bit of pain!!!

I have two, one either side of the base of my spine. On the left is a baby dragon designed for me by a friend, on the right is my own name in my mother's Japanese handwriting. I love 'em both but hardly get to see 'em unless I'm in front of the mirror. The writing was put on first and was a breeze, hardly hurt at all. The dragon's a bit bigger and went over a few ribs which hurt to the point where I was sweating and grimacing quite a lot.

If you're thinking about one, get the design you want on a piece of paper and keep it for a few months. If by the end of that time you still like the design it's a pretty good indication that it's the one for you, if not, good job you didn't have it ripped into your skin.

Also try and find the best artist in the area, even if it means travelling a bit for it. The best artists usually have high prices, but it's worth it for the experience and cleanliness.

I have a rose at the top of my back and the Chinese symbol for courage next to my hip bone. I got the one on my hip first and it hurt quite a bit, but the one on my back barely hurt. I think another thing you have to test is how sensitive your skin is in various places. I have a really really sensitive hip bone (really ticklish) but I can barely feel my back.
The other thing you have to decide is if you want people to see it. I got the one on my back because I was sick of having to take my trousers off for people to see my tattoo, even though I thought I'd want one that wasn't visible.

lol, get it somewhere you'll show off, if you want people to know about it you dont wanna have to base your whole wardrobe round the thing.

and please i beg you dont get a cartoon character or an oriental symbol. please no. no. no no no.

the real advice though is screw the tattoos and go for piercing instead, its quicker, easier, cheaper and the pain is relatively shortlived if you feel anything at all.

im up to 19 bits of metal now...im totally unemployable, lol, but hey im happy

I think Tatoos (not all) look good on other people but I don't think they would suit me. The thing that puts me off getting one is the fact that they might look good now but are they going to look so great in 15years time??? I think probably not!

A mate of mine used to fancy the local tatooist so she was always getting new tatoos just so she could go and see him.
She now has about ten tatoos which funnily enough really regrets and also she didn't get anywhere with the Tatooist - Doh!!

Hi ya,

No doubt most of you know that getting a tattoo involves the penetration of the skin.

As such, it's important to know that there are health risks such as the transmission of Hepatitis B.

It would be worthwhile you asking your tattooist whether they sterilise their instruments using a medical steriliser. If you have any doubts about the hygiene of their operation bail out and find someone else -(Just to be on the safe side.)

I got another tattoo done last week, it's a fairy and i got it done right at the base of my spine,to the left. My b/f got another one done too, on his stomach and he said it killed (it was quite large though). Don't go mad if you do get one done, even though it hurts loads, you'll want another as soon as it's done.

i'd love to get a tattoo, in fact I almost go 1 on holiday.

I'd get either a huge one going all down my back like a collage.

Either that or I'd get a smaller one's on my biceps, back & shoulder.

they'd all be quite original designs, nothing too cheesy like chinese symbols or an eagle.

There's a latino guy in L.A. who does the best tattoos & has done tonnes of hip-hop guys.

• Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I really want one done but haven't got the guts yet.

I think I want a dragon just above my bum!!

But I'm gonna wait until I find the perfect design for me!

My b/friend has about six which look kinda cool.

But a bit of advice don't get the name of a partner as I know plenty of people who have done so and regret it.

• Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Wow! So many of you have had tatoos done! I've thought a bit more about having one done and have decided to go ahead! I mean, the pain will only last a short while and when I'm old it will be good to be able to see it and remember "when I was young" or whatever.
