CANDIDA

a few months ago I was diagnosed as having 'candida'. actually it was fairly obvious I had it since I was born cos my mum has it and its hereditory, and my symptoms are like a text book case!

So, candida is like an overgrowth of a bacteria in the stomach, and when you get too much of it you get really ill. Thats exactly what happened to me, and consequently I've had to completely cut sugar and yeast from my diet. NOT GOOD! <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif">

The thing is, when you're on the diet (and it's likely to last a good few years before u can start eating normally again) you can't take the pill. Apparently it fucks up your hormone levels or something. So anyway, I'm stuck here with candida, and it seems that all types of contraception apart from condoms aren't allowed, including injections and everything.

...GEEZ! Does anyone else have candida?

i work in a public health lab, candida is a common yeast, which is found in the gastro tract, from mouth, to ya bits. Lots of people have it and it isn't normally a problem, so i suspect you just have an excess. There are different species of candida, the most common is candida albicans. hope that puts your mind at rest a touch

If you don't plan something, it can't go wrong

You seem to be talking about 'candidiasis', which many medical practitioners do not even believe in.

Infections are not hereditary - genetic conditions are. Yes, babies can be infected by bacteria when they are being born, but that does not mean it's a hereditary condition.

We do have some information about candida infections here: http://www.thesite.org/sex/sexual_health/thrush.html

My Mum sometimes gets it she keeps a tube of Canesten in the bathroom for when she gets it.
