No-one says that anymore.

This morning I used the phrase "big girls blouse" then realised, because of the odd stares from the kids, that I haven't heard anyone say that for years and years.

What haven't you heard anyone say for ages?

The other one that springs to mind is way back in the mists of time I used to go out with a fella who used to say "Mega!" all the time. :eek2:

And me! I love all the words they used to use in girls magazines when I was about 12; things like 'parp' and 'pash' and 'groovy'.....

It's being used in a game that only came out last December, so I imagine it's not that forgotten. I'd never heard it before though.

What does the blouse phrase mean then? I've not heard that either.

I hadn't heard a lot of things for ages, until I watched Peter Kay's stuff, and it all came back to me. I actually haven't heard anyone use snog for ages, which is a welcome development, cos it's a horrid word.

When my sister and I were 10 and 11 we thought we were really cool for saying "pucker": "that's pucker blinding."

My sister also used to say, "something chronic" a lot: "You're doing my head in something chronic."

    Oh dear.

On a slightly related topic... do you ever say a word, and immediatly remember the last time you used it... ususally cos it's been so long since you said it that your brain is like

I get that sometimes... it's a bit strange.
But then I have weird things like when I'm in the car, going past a certain place I'll remember exactly what I was thinking or listening to the last time I went past the same spot. And sometimes it's been aaaaaaages since I've been there. :eek2:

i started saying 'is it ?' after everytime somebody told me stuff.

eg. "it's half nine you know" -- "is it?"

That did my head in and annoyed hell outta my mates aswell.

I don't know where it came from.

Erm .... bint, totally, bargain (and not in reference to clothes).

And yes Lu_C, I do that thing where you remember stuff quite randomly from the last time you were there, etc.

Slightly off topic, there are loads of words that are fashionable with kids that drive me up the wall, such as 'schiz' and, ah bugger, I can't remember the other one. I'll post again later.

Skank and rank (skank as in the same meaning as rank, not premicious)

I got told nobody uses those like 7 years ago but they still run my vocabulary.

Bad bad example, that actually makes sense:

    More like..

" i had a banana for lunch" "is it?"

    Yuk.

I remember divvy too. I think that political correctness put a stop to that though, along with spaz.

I'm not sure about anywhere else but where I was from it was people who had some kind of special need (educational/physical) that were originally called divvies. It was always followed with the same tongue pushing out the lower lip expression too and a sort of 'der' noise.

School kids across notts and derbys say it all the time ... well, the ones I've been in anyway. It drives me insane as it's their response to everything and it's always greeted by howls of laughter. I soo don't get it!! But then I'm an old fart.
