The government recommends that you should be eating 5 pieces of fruit and veg a day to maintain good health. http://www.5aday.nhs.uk/
I always try to but there are days when I don't, I make up for it other days and have loads! If I go without any for a while, I crave them.
I've had mine already and no doubt I will have more with dinner.
Mine are so far:
Tomatoes
Raisins
Cranberry juice
Peas
Carrots
What you had?

Pineapple juice
Raisins
Pasta with a tomato sauce made of tomatoes and onions
Apple
And I'm about to have some more juice. I've also got a veggie lasagne tonight with salad- so I reckon I'm on track
Just to point out, binging on fruit and veg is not adviced. Having 10 portions in one day will not make up for having 0 portions the previous day.
Planning a stirfry for dinner with peppers, onions, mushrooms and any other random things in the fridge!
Some days I do make an effort but other days ... not so much! Like Vicky though I make up for it on other days when I eat looooads of fruit and veg.
I had carrot and coriander soup though.. does that count?
:thumb:
PS: i did have fresh OJ for breakfast though
Don't think I ever manage the RDA.
At home I get the veggies alright but not so much the fruit.
Why not?
It's a staple part of the Irish diet.
So are a lot of "healthy" foods.
Yeah, VV is right. Wish they did
No steak, bacon, chicken?
But yesterday I was awesome. I had an orange, a banana, apple and apricots in a crumble and vegetable pie with leeks, onions, carrots and parsnips in. That's gotta be 5
mushroom
lettuce
red onion (does that count?)
melon
for tea i`m havin steamed veg n fish
so yes, i`ve been good today
I've had a banana, some fresh pineapple and fresh melon and erm ....that's about it. I had sugar free blackcurrant jelly - does that count?
later I'll have veg of sorts, which will either be a portion of mixed veg (about 2 portions of veg worth I suppose). or another onion in a curry or something. unless I make my own pasta sauce, which'll be onion + a tin of chopped tomatoes.
so I probably get 4 a day most days. it's a pain cooking for one and trying to include lots of ingredients, you end up with lots of half-things in the fridge.
I always have atleast one portion of fruit at lunch, and 2 portions of veg at dinner. I'd get more if I could be arsed to lug cartons of fruit juice all the way back from sainsbury's. they're just too heavy
