Quit smoking?

Hi!
Does anyone have any tips on how to quit smoking?
I've tried patches and gum but nothing works.

    I don't smoke, but have tried it a number of times and i just wanted to say...................WELL DONE FOR TRYING TO QUIT and...........DON'T GIVE UP!!! It's really good that u've got the will-power to try and stop. I suggest doing something every time u want to smoke. Try to cut down at first - half the no. of fags u have a day, and then reduce that. Be careful u don't start to eat loads when u quit, coz loads of ppl feel the need to do something with their hands - therefore they eat! Try typing something on here ever time u want to smoke, that way ur doing something with ur hands. Just type anything that's on ur mind - that way u're avoiding smoking, and getting things off ur chest at the same time....once again - good luck!

    Yes i know it can be hard 2 stop and hard i found it! i dont know wat amount out of my mates knew this but i started smoking young while at my 2nd home off and on. It made me feel better abpout my self and all the un happy thoughts i had 2 live with. I am wat u say or was a social smoker. i gave up bcoze i did not want any 1 2 know not even my best mate. in some regard i smoked a little more than socil but it made me forget things. I did draw and loads of shit like that but never any thing bad bad. And i do nothing know. So i spose im trying 2 say that if u want 2 give up bad anuth u can give up any thing! Even if it seems hard!

    If i die could you pretend i said somthing deep and Emotionally funny!

    First of all you have to accept that it is an addiction like any other and that you will suffer withdrawal symptoms. Be ready for then - your face will feel tight for a start - you will be snappy, miserable.

    Try to drink orange juice - apparently this help purge the system.

    Then you have to want to give up. REALLY want to give up. Whatever the reason is, doesn't matter.

    Then you have to stop.

    I've been 'clean' for nearly four years now.

    I don't miss it, but I just stopped enjoying it and giving up became easy. I had tried several times before.

    Now I've stopped, I wonder why I ever started.

    I heard that glucose tablets can help the cravings, but I've never tried, so I don't know.

    1. Think about your reasons for stopping. Making a list of all the bad things about smoking might help. Find a friend to give up with you but BEWARE - if you are more determined than them and they start smoking again, SO WILL YOU!

    2. Set a date, but not too soon. Give yourself time to prepare yourself for it. Mark it on a calendar. I meant to do it on No Smoking Day when there's more support, but I got the day wrong!

    3. Show you are serious by throwing away all your lighters, matches, fags and ashtrays, You're giving up - you won't need them anymore.

    4. Take each day at a time ("just for today, I will not smoke"). You will go mad if you think you can never have another fag.

    5. Stay away from places you know will tempt you to smoke (pubs,clubs etc) for at least TWO WEEKS.

    6. If you last two weeks, you've cracked it. The worst is over.

    7. Don't give up giving up. If you relapse, set another date and try again! You haven't failed, you just nearly succeeded!

    smokings one of the stupidest things u can do,
    heres a tip, when u know u wanna quit just do something like in a quick burst, just thorow yoru ciggarettes out the car window, and when u see yourself going to by more just keep driving past..
