hey. as weird as it sounds, my hair is sort of thinning out. beings as i'm female and only 16 i'm getting pretty worried <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif">. i was wondering why this might be happening, some people have suggested things like hair dye, stress, malnutrition, medication, and dope. so i was basically wondering if anyone knew of any other reasons why, or any ideas as to what i an do about it...?

    How long have you been on your medication charley? I wouldn't suspect the meds unless hair loss is specified in the potential side effects.

    I can't see that hair dye would make your hair thinner, unless there's something in it that damages your scalp or makes your hair so brittle that some of it breaks off. If that is the case you'll still have the hair follicles & your hair will grow through fine if you leave it. Again, the risk should be listed on the details in the box.

    Dope - forget it, if that was a side effect of dope, most of us would know about it <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif"&gt;

    It's far more likely to be down to your diet, we are what we eat & all that. Make sure that you're getting the right amount of vitamins & minerals particularly vitamins b5 & c. If you decide you're not geting enough vitamin b5 in your food & you want to take supliments, make sure it's a vitamin b complex & b5 works beter with b12.

    Do you bruise easily & sometimes without reason?

    Have a look here http://www.tipsofallsorts.com/hair.html (click on "nourishment" when you get to the web page).

    As always, if ou're woried it might be a medical thing, & there is a possibility[/] that it is, then see your doc. Easier said than done lol.

    SarahBabe, get another doctor. You have the right to respect, and you should be able to see ur doctor about anything, no matter how small/silly it may seem. What a wanker your doctor is. I switched to the university health service and all the doctors there are great. They've seen it all b4 and then some!

    Why can't u tell anyone?! If my hair started comming out more than usual I'd be demanding help from the rooftops - it's not like u have anything 2 b embarrassed about, loosing hair is serious, not silly.

    I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, sometimes I loose more hair than normal in the shower/brushing. But, put your minds at rest, no sense adding stress to your lives, we have enough already!
    good luck.
