I have a question....

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
most of you already know half the things I'm going to say, but I'm going to say them again anyway........

Just before Christmas I experienced an eating problem, which eventually got to the point (in Jan) that I was fainting and getting dizzy through out the day. By the middle of Jan my mum found out and forced me to eat. I'd lost 10kg and I knew that if I put ANY of the weight back on again I'd go straight back into having the problem.

I continued eating as much as I could and maintained the weight I had achieved, BUT over the past few months I've noticed my periods stopping. Last month (while I was on the ski trip) it got so low that I hardly had to wear any sanitary things <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt; This month my period hasn't even come and if it doesn't come in the next week then I'm going to get really worried. I don't want to tell anyone, but I know I'll have to <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt;

could it be because I stopped eating? If not, then why have they stopped? I may be jumping to conlusions sinse my period's only 2 days late, but it's not like my body to be acting like this!

One more thing.....I might be leaving thesite because I don't feel that anyone really cares anymore. I go on yahoo every night I no one even bothers to say hi, and someimes, when I try to speak to people, they just end up ignoring me <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt; I'll definately stay around for atleast another week, but I'll have to see what happens after that.

    Hey Tara,
    Yes, your lack of sanitary displeasure will probably have something to do with your eating, and can often be a sign of stress as well. So start eating.
    Anyway, I dont want you to leave, I always talk to you on MSN, its just that I always catch you at a bad time, or when it is really late over here.
    I will talk to you lots tonight though if you are online! <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"&gt;
    Please dont leave Tara, cos I dont know about the rest of em, but I know I'll miss you.
    Pleeeeeeeeeese stay

    I agree with the previous post, periods can be affected by malnutition...

    If your concerned I'd say your best course of action would be to see your local GP, its in confidence so you don't have to worry.. <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"&gt;

    Hi Tara,

    We have some stuff about this on TheSite here:
    http://www.thesite.org/health/wellbeing/anorexia_and_bulimia_the_facts.html http://www.thesite.org/health/headstate/distorted_body_image.html http://www.thesite.org/health/wellbeing/the_risks_of_eating_disorders.html

    It might help if you could talk to someone about the root causes of your problems. Are you in touch with anyone who specialises in helping young people with the issues that surround eating disorders?

    sorry to hear you have these problems tara. i don't know what to suggest, but i hope you are smart enough to ask for help and not try and hide your problems.

    And all the grown-ups say is sorry, cos we got no reply.

    First thing you have to do is check your diet Tara & make sure you are eating properly. We've spoken about his in the past.

    I know it's difficult for you <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif">, but it's important.

    If your periods don't return to normal soon, you really must go & see a doctor. I know that that isn't easy for you either, but you must, please.

    Janine

    {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Tara}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I can't really offer much advice than what has been said above, please see your doctor to get the help you need, we're here also as a back up if and when you need us. I do remember when in hospital meeting several people al with different problems, includig eating dissorders. One girl in particular became a very good friend, did tell me about her problems with eating and the problems that then caused, I do remember her saying it affected her periods but can't for the life of me remember why. Please take care Tara if you can't see your dr, perhaps pay your school nurse a visit. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Tara}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

    tara,
    hiya.i understand u!i was/am bulimic.i dropped to 6 1/2 stone at one point.my periods stopped completely.so i think this is why uv stopped to.stress adds to it to.have you got ant good friends that you can talk to?or a counceller.i had one,and it really really helped.it gives you that extra bit of support,and encouragement to keep on going.think about it,and think about what your doing to your body,its not good.i know that its a problem that maybe not even you understand.i dont understand why it happened to me,but you can work threw it,with the help of friends etc.u dont have to deal with it alone.

    well if u want to talk to me,about anything,then let me know
    good luck babes
    xxxxxxx
    oh,and how old are u?just outta interest?

    Tara please dont leave. U r wrong about people not caring, I do. I no I dont speak to u much but Im never online anymore and if I were and u were than I would definatly talk to u.
    Im really sorry to hear u r feeling so crappy. I hate to say it but your periods stopping could definatly be conected to your not eating.When I was at my worst I didnt have a period fer months and was told it could affect my chances of having children (which thankfully we all no isnt the case). Please please please go to the docter before this gets worse. Your periods stopping (if its conected to your not eating, is a sure sign thast this has gone too far. I really dont want to see u getting so bad and also would hate top see u leave, I think u r a really lovely girl. I just hope u can find it in yuorself to go and get some help!
