Dyxlexia (sp?)

JsTJsT Posts: 18,268 Skive's The Limit
My Maths Teacher reckons I have dyxlexia, he reckons this, 'cos my writing shit. I explain to him that is because im left handed, and my writng alwasy shit. But he always tells me that hes seen better writing " From a five year old, with his head up his arse" hes now on the verge of ringing my parents.

Couple of questions:

1) Is there any truth in his theory?

2) Is there any truth that my writing is bad 'cause im left handed

and 3) Does my teacher have any right to ring my parents?

Thanks

That is so out of order for your teacher to say that James!!!

Just because you have messy handwriting don't mean you got dyslexia! Dyslexia is a learning disablility which can make you read things back to front, and make u write words wrong and stuff. If you had it, wouldn't they have picked up on it by now?

    Got this for u -

It is estimated that about one person in ten is dyslexic. If strategies are not developed to deal with it, the effects of dyslexia can be devastating, often resulting in a huge loss of self-confidence .

If you answer 'Yes' to four or more of these questions, then you may be dyslexic, and our Dyslexia Test for Adults will give you a clear assessment:

Did you experience feelings of failure at school?

Do you lack self-confidence about your ability to write and spell words?

Are there any family members who experienced difficulty learning to read or spell when they were at school?

Do you study hard but find that you get disappointing results?

Do you often skip words when reading and have to go back to read the sentence again?

Do you ever confuse left and right?

Are you - or is anyone in your family - left-handed?

Do you find difficulty working with numbers?

Do you have difficulty reading aloud?

Do you get confused about following instructions, for example with a new procedure at work?

well..im left handed and my writing is fine. not if i write with a fountain pen or anythin, coz it smudges across the page unless i write reeeeeeeaaally slow. but if i use other pens that dry quickly, im fine.
but up until year six my writing was horrible and my teacher made me practice loads and loads until i changed it. wasnt really very good til year seven. maybe youre being lazy? (i mean this in the nicest way possible PLEASE dont take offense )
as far as i know being left handed doesnt matter to your standard of writing..

One of my m8s is dyslexic, apparently if you're ambidextrous then there's an increased likelihood of dyslexia.
Which I could be worried by, cos I'm right handed, but can write with my left hand better than many of my m8s!
I get my numbers confused, but I never had any trouble at school. I always have to doublecheck phone numbers cos I transpose them.

    As for
    3) Does my teacher have any right to ring my parents?
Yes he does, cos they have to inform them of anything they think may affect you at school.
However he does NOT have the right to tell you he's "seen better writing from a 5yr old with his head up his arse"!
Teachers are supposed to support you, not take the piss.

my teachers always moan at my writing and i see theres and its 100 times worse. just write in capital letters and piss him off, and also he has no right to ring your parents. everyones hand writing is different. maybe use a blue pen as its easier on the eye and make letters bigger. also ive found they teach u to use joined up writing, but girls mostly dont they write letters seoprartly thats why theres looks so good, but blokes always join up so it looks crap. ive got dyslexia, its where you might write down the letter B when u wanted D u confuse letters and cant take information in and assimilate it easilly and u have bad spelling, just like me. i had a teacher to help me throught it now i get great grades in english,. well when i was doing it at school. just tell him to fuck off or see his writing or just argue with him, thats what i do lol.

    HI JsT

Im new here but i read your post and found it interesting!

U c im in year 11 at the mo (exams in a couple of weeks - god help me) and a couple of months ago my teachers well a teacher thought i had the sma eprob as u! i have problems forming essays no matter how hard i try even though (im not bosting or anything)im quite clever. Wot happened was that my head of year spoke 2 this guy in my councils education dept. Thye decided that i prob didnt have much 2 worry about as i was in y11 and they hadnt spotted it and that i go 2 a grammar school so i wsnt really top of the list. I was really worried about telling my parents cause they can never admit to having a less than perfect family and my teacher sent them a lteer saying that the school wouldnt get me assesed but if thye wanted 2 they could pay for an assement but they just ignored it!

Sorry if that didnt make any sense! My adice would be 2 go 2 a teacher u can trust preferably your head of year of key stage. Tell them all that your maths teacher has said and thye will help you! your maths teacher has NO RIGHT wot so ever to worry you like this! they could be in serious trouble for it! thye should go to the teacher respoonisble for you not go and take the piss out of you (trust me im a expert on this)

So do something about it tomorrow! u can e-mail me @ orla_gallagher@hotmail.com of ya want any more or this didnt make sense!

Grow up and find something better to do other than picking on me all the time. It's gone over the top and it has to stop!

I've noticed this going on for sometime now Dave.
I dont know the details of how you two broke up
and I dont want to cause another feud on the site, but it isnt fair how you keep picking on Tara. from now on, why dont you STOP making comments about each other, STOP replying to each others posts and STOP making new topics which have the ultimate aim of slagging Tara off.
Stop it now, because it really isnt fair on either of you.

    yeah dude. what they said.

have no details on your relationship nor do i know who hurt who, it's none of my business. i also know u feel like it's ur job to take the piss outta people here, but u seem to pick on tara especially.

she's just trying to be a part of the community, so um, y don't u just let her and other people around here do that?

she seems to do a good job avoiding u around here, maybe you should do the same...
