that's a scary fact...

"Experts reckon that one severe burning session before the age of 15 can double the risk of skin cancer."

Karla, what's considered a severe burning? Especially with the number of possibly-cancerous marks on my body. (Melanoma (sp?) skin cancer often leaves a tell-tale, large, quite dark freckle, similar to a mole (I think it is darker than a mole, and not as raised, but don't take my word for it).

Karla, how much of this confusion of mine can u clear up??

As fas as I know, 'severe sunburn' means that there is a degree of blistering of the skin, and the burn is covering a substantial portion of the body surface.

If you are still worried, a quick trip to your GP should be enough to set your mind at rest.

i got very burnt on friday <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"> i was out in the sun from about 1 till 4, pm, that is, only we were under this shade for a while of it. anyway i was lying on my back but with the sun on my left and my face was resting on my right side, so i got VERY burnt down my left arm, left side of my neck and my face, and i have a huge sunglasses mark <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"> i got my mum to help out with fake tan and bronzing stuff to make me look less weird! well it seems to have worked anyway <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"> i know i should have been more careful tho <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif">
