don't act like you like the smell. Nobody's nose can ever get used to the stenching reek of butteracid. It doesn't wash out either. One drop on your pants and you can have every bus in london all for yourself.

I'm wondering whether they meant 'what does C3H7COOH mean?'

Oh... It's the chemical formula for butteracid.
Like H²O is for water and C2H5OH is for ethanol etc.

3 Linked Carbon Atoms, with 3, 2 and 2 Hydrogenatoms respectively and a Carbonyl group COOH.

    sorry for the boring facts.

I do not think anyone is 'dumb' of not knowing that, since it's already rather specialized knowledge (chemistry), but apart from studying that degree I remembered those parts from middle school, so I thought a few would be still familiar with the notation of molecules with the aid of the sum formula.

    Like H²O = water...

i never said you thought we were dumb for not knowing.

but silly me, if i knew h20 was water i should've known that that other bollocks was butter acid. oops.

no you should not have known. Therefore I stated it in my post. I did not assume anyone would know that. Maybe it wasn't that clear tho, ooops, sue me.

Nah, chances are you never smelled it... It occurs when the fat in the butter gets rank, in an oxygen-poor environment.

I.e. put butter into an airtight tupperware box, put it in the sun for 2 weeks and do not ever open that box again.

It smells like vomit, shit... just undefined, and it really aggravates the nose, so you get nauseous of it quite easily. you can't wash it out, so a single droplet on a piece of cloth makes everyone leave the room for hours/weeks.

I don't get why everyone likes the smell of petrol, I can't stand it. Other than that, that experiment you used to do at school (whatever that produced - you know the one), microwave pizza, dog breath, that smell you sometimes smell in a corner shop (that isn't the person working there or another customer), and gone off milk.

I once was cooking some pork mince... and for some reason the smell really got to me... I nearly threw up and had to get my mum to finish cooking it cos I gagged every time I went in the room... It just happened the once though, I've not had a problem with it since.

Off-fish is not a good smell. :yuck:
    Unclean public toilets.

And is it sulpher, that stinks like egg? Yuck that's horrible too.

And when someone cooks with cumin it smells of sweat to me, and I don't like it.
