I gave my TV to my mate to look after last summer when I went home from uni and had to move stuff out of mine. Somehow the remote went missing or got lost. I've only just got the TV back to my new flat. Anyway, how easy is it to get one of those universal remotes to work with any TV and does anyone recommend any particular one and where to get it?

    Very easy, your tv will have a kind of code, you hold down the blue button or something and press 3 numbers. You just need to find that out :). There is a universal one but I don't know what it is :blush:. As for recommendations, if it does the trick it's alright :)

    Just buy any universal remote, there'll be a booklet acompanying it which will tell you how to set it up for JVC.

    i lost the remote to my tv at uni and i bought a universal one hoping that it would work - and it didnt! I followed the instructions numerous times.. but nada!
    might just be that my tv is somehow messed up, but if you try with a universal one then keep the receipt!! u may end up having to return it and changing the channels manually! so annoying!

    If you know the exact type of TV (It's usually stamped on a badge beside the power cord) then there are websites ( http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=old+tv+remotes&meta= ) that may stock it. Try ebay as well.

    I recommend http://www.avukltd.com/remotecontrolsearch.php?source=googleadtv2&gclid=CNDs053XvIoCFR8EEAodTS6yPQ as they found a remote control for my second hand TV and I didn't even realise that it came with a remote. :D
