stuck on my history assignment

Hi guys.

Im doing an individual assignment for history on the 2 A-Bombs dropped on japan about the reasons why they were dropped. The problem is that I can't find any historians views on why they were dropped but just on the events themselves. I've checked books and wikipedia and no luck.

does anyone know of any historians on the subjects?

    You'll need to look up at the lead up to them being dropped, IIRC that's where you get the reasons from.

    Just from memory, the A-bombs were used as a shock tactic, the allies had already done that much damage and more with standard bombs etc, but that much damage with just one was supposed to force a sudden collapse...
