If you only had a tenner left

PearlyPearly Posts: 345 The Mix Regular
If you only had a tenner left before your next pay day, what would you spend it on? I think for me it would have to be Oyster top up, boring but well at least I'd be able to get to work!

I wouldn't spend it unless I really needed to.

Depends how long away the next pay day was going to be.

If it was a while away i'd obviously have to buy myself some food to keep me going or petrol to get to work. If it was say two days ago then i'd just keep it and save the money.

Presuming I had petrol, I'd get some trashy cheap magazines, like love it, a cheap bottle of wine, go to the supermarket just before it closes to get some reduced food and have a nice cheap night in!

    when is payday?

    I'd probably buy cereal + milk (£3)
a newspaper every day (assume 1 week) (£3)
Then maybe a bar of soap if i run out (99p)

and then I still have £3.01 remaining .... obviously I would have already purchased my monthly oyster card ;)

    see, easy eh.

Use it to buy bread and a filler for lunch at work, bus fare and fags.

Go to Lidl. You can feed yourself for a month on a tenner in there.

5 pills! Hehe. Idk. It'd be gone really quickly though and I probably wouldn't even remember what it got spent on.

Just what I was going to say :thumb:

I'd probably have to hit Netto though for some bargains, it's closer than Lidl and I'd need to be saving my petrol if I only had a tenner.

Do they still have...is it JobLot? I remember my mum used to shop there and I'd religiously peel the labels off the food as a kid, in case my mates saw them!

Teehee, I know exactly the place you mean. Yep, it's still there and doing a roaring trade :D

I'd go to Aldi and buy a large quantity of food. My travelcard comes out of my wage at source, so I wouldn't need to worry about that.

Having a tenner left before payday is a luxury for me:(
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've about 65p in the bank till payday (a week tomorrow), and I'm too embarrased to go in and ask to withdraw 65p.

I just survive on alcohol and life, man.

But I'm borrowing £20 off my mate tomorrow so all is good :yippe:

would depend how much food i had in the cupboards.

If they were a bit bare, then id go and buy basics from the shop. Milk, pasta, bread, butter.
I think i could probably get a weeks worth if i shopped blue stripe.

If my cupboards were full, then id probably just put the tenner in my purse and not go anywhere all week.

I walk most places, unless I'm feeling lazy.

I'd go out and buy potatos, chickpeas, onions, bread, parsnips, carrots, brown lentils, vegetable stock, milk and rice (or quinoa if I can find it cheap).

I have a lot of herbs and spices with which I can cook and I'd live off curries and lentil dishes, which will keep my healthy and my tum tum full :)

I eat fairly cheaply anyway and our cupboards are hardly bare. Maybe I'd buy a newspaper, the Independent is cheap at university.

They should be paying you to drink Fosters!

    5 pills!

Lol I was gonna say that, or a gram of speed or something lol, nah I'd only do that if it was the night before pay day.
Otherwise hmm maybe a couple of pints down the pub and some baccy or something.

give over, i quite like fosters, im not fussed with lager, i'll drink owt apart from stella.

i have a order of preference tho, i usually go Ayingerbrau, Carlsberg, Fosters, Carling, Grolsch, Kronenberg, Stella(boo)

thats out of your standard lagers anyway.

useless info for you there, but im bored.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Aw, I'm just messing. It's weird though... I can't abide Fosters though, and I love a nice cold pint of Stella. Diff'rent strokes and all that :D
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Stella is only nice out of the tap though. I'm lucky as my local does Hofbrau extra cold, Export and Premium. Now that's some good german lager.

    food!

well... if I had none left. If my cupboards are as stocked as they are at the moment, I'd probably have no reason to spend it.
