What channel was it on?
Now your asking, at a guess channel one or three. Sure the title was just genis kids, but could easily be wrong.
Mabye someone will be along shortly to tell ya cos I don't know :P
which one was that?
He wrote that book with his mum. I felt quite sorry for the boy that only had his dad and grandad for company
Yeah I know which one you mean. Yeah he was a bit wierd. That was the chess boy with his dad and grandad, I know what you mean but at least they were playing kid like games with him, footy and that, some of the parents were just work work work adult talk all the time and not letting the poor kids be kids, esp that 3 yr old, for fucks sake let him play with his train set!
Haha yeah and they was just like teaching him maths ALL the time and not concentrating on anything else so he didn't even know things basic 3 year olds would.
It's quite sad really.
Made me laugh when they were in class guessing how many candles were on the cake and some kids were like, 12, 6, 5 and then the genius kid was like 21 and then about 10 other kids all just answered 21
I weren't all that impressed by that music playing girl, the chinese one. She wasn't all that special.
Was appauled at that family where they had the big do at the girl getting into the grammar school, what would have happened if she failed and didn't get in. Would they take all the cards and balloons and gifts away. That was terrible. Also when the woman was liike "we invite people over for dinner but they look at us funny" I wonder why woman, you are all posh snobby people and she wears ghastly lipstick!
I would have laughed so hard if she hadn't have gotten in but having 4 gifted children that's like :shocking:
I suppose it's a good incentive for them to do well but when they get into the real world their gonna be pretty gutted when they don't get loads of presents for working hard at their job.
Yeah that chinese girl was weird, she could play the piano, so what someone who had played all their life would have been pretty god damn good too. Anyway she only got like 150 on the IQ test, the others were like 170 that showed her who was boss.
My dad liked the one where the lad was doing physics A Level and his mum or dad was trying to keep up with him by studying and asked a question like what is 4 to the power of 8 or someting and the little lad came straight out with it! I didn't see that bit cos I missed the start but my dad found it so funny, he's still going on about it now!
Yeah i think she was doing a Maths Degree and was stuck on it and he just came out with it.
I think it'd piss me off having a "gifted child" they'd just correct you all the time and come out with things just beyond me.
127 is impressive! I think i'm just the average, i did that IQ test that was on telly out of boredom once, thought i might surprise myself but nah, i'm nothing special when it comes to brains, no surpise there
Would you keep them in school - with their peers and bore them?
Or keep them up with their ability education wise? Home school them?
How do you get them to socialise with other children their age when they are way to mature for their age? They would never want child like hobbies like swimming and horseriding? Would they want to watch cartoons?
I just think them children lost their childhood and it is such such such a shame.
For one i'm not clever enough to home school a child that gifted, plus the stress of it all would be the end of me.
Think i'd have to send them to school, where they can be children and have friends, even though they will know it all, it's going to be the case whatever until they get to 18+ or whatever.
I think those children could mix with other children, it's just because most of those were so used to being around adults (like the chess kid) they just didn't know how to socialise with other children anymore because of that.
In the future they will probably lack basic communication skills that you learn as a child. (I don't know if any of the last paragraph makes any sense but i know what i mean )
They had CCTV for some weird reason too. To do with other parents, i can't think what it was.
P A T H E T I C
I think it's nice to be intelligent, but too intelligent in the wrong family probably sucks.
My kid turned 2 in November and he can count to 15 in English, 10 in Welsh and now he can use the PC on his playing games on the internet etc - that freaks me out enough!!
It's on in another 2 years they go back to see how they are getting on.
Yeah I can see that somewhat hindering you.
I agree the family with the four children was very odd indeed. However, I thought that lad who has had his book published was really lovely - really down to earth, obviously has fantastic creative talent and seems to have a fair few friends (contrary to some of his 'prodigy peers') - his Mum seemed really on the level too which was fab to see. My money is on him being most at ease with life when he's older, but we'll see.
As for the others, it's just gonna be hard I reckon - Dante 'or delte' looks as if he's going to have a tough ride, but sound parents. But he clearly has a great mind and amazing potential. There's loads to say on this so I'll stop now, but if they show it again before the next one - watch it!
