i have a lot of family things and persional problems and i self-injure. i usually cut myself, but ive also burnt myself a few time, and often pull my hair or pick at my skinand scratchit when i am trying to avoid cutting.ive also been addicted to ibuprofein, had problems with anorexia, and bulimia(to help w/ mty stress-it gave me stomach aches). i want to talk to someone about all of this because i can hardly think at school and the past couple of weks i have been thinking about killing myself,. not wanting to do it, but just thinking about it. i dont want to be committed to any hospital and i want help before id have to, but how do i get my parents to take me to someone without telling them all of this, and without them saying i think im crazy and need to go to a mental institution. thats what my dad thought i was saying last time i tried to tell him i needed some help.please help soon!!!

Im really sorry that you do all of those things to yourself, and :shrugs: its sad but true that I can totally relate. Ive been a cutter for 2 years now, and had on and off spells with eating disorders.
Getting to a counsellar w/o your parents getting involved is near to impossible. As you've said parents dont react well to their children asking for help (I know this from my own experience) as they either think you're crazy, or attention seeking. Either way they see your pain as their failure.
I dont know how old you are, but the only way you can get proffesional help is through your school and through your doctor. I can offer you my support, but if you want face to face help I dont think you can get it, w/o sitting down with your parents and explaining whats going on. Ok Im writing too much now, just take care, and think about it. xoxoxox

Ive been through a lot of what u have described and been in hospital for it so u r not alone. But just because u have these problems dont mean u will end up in an institution or anything. People now days r always so concerned about that happening but the reality of it is that u will be offered lots more types of help b4 that and really hospitilisation is the last straw so please dont put off getting yourself help because of that.
I suggest u go and c your GP. I understand its difficult to express all of this but once u have done he/she will be able to help u get further help and maybe give u some medication if they think its neccessary. I cant go on this way, u dont deserve to. PLease talk to someone about this and get yourself some help. U can always come on here and chat to us lot, there r some brilliant people who no what they r talking about so dont hold back

U can definatly get to see a counseller without your parents being involved. What u say to your docter is totally confidential and the same goes if u see anyone else in that area. Its obviosly much better if u r open with your parents though because keeping secrets wont help matters. Also it will be really difficult for u to attend appointments and things when they dont no about it. It can be done though.

yeh i almost EXACTLY relate to that. i cut pretty often and eat next to nothing, but i am seeing doctors counselors etc. yeh it is possible to see a counselor without ure parents knowing, i have done, and its not so bad most of them are well friendly andn they just sit there and let u talk it all out, if thats what u want. and hey man, i hope things get real better for u, co zi know what its liek and it sucks.

if u wanna read around other threads in the health forum u'll find out loadsa useful stuff, i hope it helps.

if u ever wanna talk bout anythin then thesite is the right place (welcome to thesite btw), and hey if u ever wanna IM me on yahoo, msn, or aol, then feel free

keep going man.
