Hiya <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif"&gt;
My grandad is going into hospital on Thursady for an operation...down there, i think its Prospate...something(but its not cancerous..yet)! Im scared that if he goes in....he might not come out! I mean hes healthy enough, but he is abit old 80 odds! I want to go and visit him in hospital coz it could be the last, but im scared to, do you think he can die from this???
HELP!

    No, I dont think hell die from a (seemingly) routine opertion- itll just make life WAY more comfy for him!

    there is always a risk with anaesthetic, but if the docs thought it cud b a prob then they wudnt go ahead with the op.
    dont worry sweetie, im sure he'll b fine.

    It's a prostate op. They are fairly routine and he will have been assessed before hand to make sure that he is fit for surgery. Thousands of over 80s have operations yearly, so it's nothing unusual.

    Whilst general anaesthetic does carry a risk, how often do you hear of someone dying from this? Now think of how many operations are carried out yearly... There is a miniscule risk.

    As for his prostate, this is one of the main cancers in men, so if it isn't cancerous now, it's a good time to have the op.

    You watch he'll be fine.
