Come to think of it, i was reading a leaflet about it @ work today. It said that you can't actually be told to do something that you don't actually want to do. I dunno if that bs bcoz on paul mckenna u c all these ppl doing weird things that im sure they wouldn't do if they were in their normal state.
I personally would onyl do it if it was a professional and came highly recommended and they were qualified etc bcoz i don't like the idea of ppl messing with me mind and me having no control.
And i also think those tapes are probably a load of poo. I reckon go professional or its not worf it.
There's a girl in my mirror
I wonder who she is
Sometimes I think I know her
Sometimes I really wish I did
Anyway, self confidence is one of the easiest things to deal with using hynposis. When I was running my practice a confidence boost was put into every process.
Which hypnotist did your friend use Lolly? £150 sounds like an awful lot of money for one session, unless she paid for a course upfront. Is she going back again or was that a one off treatment? When I used to do hypnosis for stopping smoking I used to use the "cutting down" method spread out over the course of 5 weeks. It's usually more successful than the one off session.
It's true that under hypnosis you won't do anything that you normally wouldn't do, but under hypnosis (stage hypnosis) your inhibitions are lowered & the subject finds themself wanting to follow the instructions. However, the hypnotist wouldn't be able to make you do something that was against your moral beliefs. Only 4% of the population are suitable for a stage hypnosis act, the stage hypnotist can only use people who can go deep trance.
A hypnotist can only "mess with your mind" if you want them to . All hypnosis is self hypnosis, a hypnotist doesn't "put" you into a hypnotic state, rather guides you there.
You always have control when under hypnosis, the vast majority of people (95%) remember everything that happened in the hypnotic state, in fact, some people don't even consider that they have been hypnotised, but all hypnosis is, is a very relaxed state, in which your right and left hemispheres are equally accessible and your concentration is focused.
Obviously, when visiting a professional hypnotist, it's always best to either go by recomendation, or ask for references.
I'm happy to answer any questions on hypnosis, but I must warn you, I haven't done any for 10 years & my training was 12 years go! There are alot of things I don't understand about it, so I'll answer what I can

I've never tried a commercially produced tape, but I used to tape the sessions I ran, for reinforcement of the process during the following week.
There's no reason why a tape wouldn't work, but if you saw a hypnotist in person, they can tailor the tape for you.
There is a possibility that a tape could contain a phrase or some music that you dislike or disagree with. You might then find yourself fixating on that & missing the message of the tape.
For instance, one day, during a hypnosis session, a dog barked, this, of course, was recorded onto the tape along with the session.
After a couple of days, the client rang me to tell me that all he was doing was lying there waiting for the dog bark. I had to make a new tape for him.
Another reason for visiting a hypnotist rather than using a tape is that you may only want it to increase confidence, but there may be a reason for the lack of confidence that the hypnotist can address.
Give the tape a try, you may well think it has no effect, but after a couple of weeks, ask other people if you apear to have changed & I bet they say yes .
