mobile phones

so do mobile phones affect ur health?

i was just watching channel health and it said that it they can cause:
*lethargy *fatigue *headaches *disturbance in sleeping patterns *brain tumours

It is also worse if you use a hands free kit because the radiation just goes straight into your brain, and if you use it is cars/trains etc because the radiation is just reflected back onto you. And, it's worse if you use it for more than 20 mins @ a time

Anyway, i'm sure most of you knew this, but i just thought i wud write it in case!

In my mind it is all bollox until proven true.

I am open minded, and believe that there may be some cases of mobile phone "poisoning". But I don't think it is going to be a major problem.

Hands free sets. WHY ARE THEY DANGEROUS?? The mobile is away from ur head, and all u are recieving is the sound waves thru a head phone...so how does that make them MORE dangerous??

Cos i'm thinking about a brand new hope, one i've never known, and where it goes, cos now I know it's all that wanted.

I agree with turtle. The 'radiation' is susposed to come from the arial yes? So having a hands-free would mean the phone is futher away from you. Its only the earphone you have near your head. But from an earlier post about headaches in health i mentioned that i got headaches (90% certain from using mobile for extensive periods)

Apparently, the radiation travels up the wire, into the ear which is directly next to the brain and thats how its more dangerous.

And gfm, im sure if that was my 1st post, i think there mite b another 1, but im not sure

Moving back to the original subject for a bit, the radiation is from the arial of the mobile to the nearest mobile mast. Surely having a mobile next to the side of your head (with arial) is worse than having a hands-free with the arial 1+foot away from you? The hands-free wire contains a wire that carries the audio that would come out of the headset but is just transferring it up a wire to your ear.

I have to admit I have never had a headache that can be linked with use of my mobile, and I live on my mobile... but it is defineately a topic of hot debate. The government task force can't decide whether it's a danger or not, one minute it is, one minute it isn't then the risk is reduced if you use a hands free kit, then it isn't. I guess if you get a headache whilst using your mobile the only thing you can do is to stop using it turn it off or divert calls to your voice mail an take a pain killer an chill til you feel better.

I have a friend who works within the mobile telecomunications industry and is a senior contractor to one of the biggest phone manufacturers in the world. I'll speak to him and see if he can provide me with any information about it.

Ah yeah...the confusing comes because there are no hard facts out there about mobile phone radiation, so groups can say anything so long as they have the theory.

I am more inclined to believe the mobile phone companies than the public awareness groups tho. And as soon as you ask someone working in telecoms, he'll say "no worries mate, not a problem at all". work for someone who is a staunch tory and they'll prob insist that mobiles will bring the destruction of society as we know it today.

The thing about believing the big companies about something which is unknown - werent tobacco companies the same? (smoking is good for you). Not that i believe the mobile radiation groups, im undecided

i use a mobile phone. not regularly, but i do. it's true that no hard facts are available about the effects of using one, but the two following facts HAVE been proven:

    1) Mobile phones emit radiation;
    2) Exposure to radiation can cause cancer.

make of it what you will...

Yeah I'll sit on the fence until hard facts come out, but I think I want to believe the companies, I want to believe that this new technology is not gonna kill you.

At least with a hans free kit u lads can get sum exercise ;p

Seriously though, it wouldn't surprise me if that were true. It's not like there's a lot of research into mobile phones & abnormalities in the brain.

theres a girl in school thats convinced the radiation can affect your hands and you can get cancer in them from texting too much. shes talking complete crap, she thinks she knows everything though and no one can tell her differently.

i read that mobile phones and brain tumours dont have a medical link that anyoen can work out yet... its just the radio waves altering and messing with the electrical signals in the brain. apparently after a period of time talking on a mobile phone, people have the brain activity and alertness and responses of someone 20 years younger. (we're talking older adults here, not regressing to childhood). but no one's proven the bad stuff yet.

i just guess you gotta be careful just in case, not talk for too long on the mobile if youre worried or if you can help it. i guess theres no harm in being careful.
