Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Ok so got prescribed some antibiotics this afternoon.
Got to take one twice a day, tablet form.
Do I start them tonight and finesh them what urm wednesday morning (if i figured that out right) or do I take them tomorrow morning, one morning and one at night for 7 full days.

Or does it make no difference?

Thankyou!

Start them as soon as possible and then continue approx every 12 hours from then onwards.

Read the instructions on with/without food, full empty stomach etc, it can make a big difference to reducing any irritation of your stomach.

Yes start taking them tonight and then the next one 12 hours later and so on. It doesn't make a difference if you begin in the morning or the afternoon.

Just don't drink whilst you're taking them - it'll nullify any effects.

Just to clarify, he probably means alcohol. Don't die of thirst. ;)

I realised that, took the first one last night (very badly I must say) and then my mate was like still coming round Friday night for a piss up. That stopped me in my tracks!

Check the packet, some are fine to drink with.

Back in the days I was working as a paramedic I was usually out every second day drinking. Jesus, I remember those evenings on anti-biotics and painkillers, because of my frontal sinus infection. I basically walked to the pub at evening but flew or beamed home at night, that was convenient. You are amazingly quickly sloshed if you are on AB.

i don't encourage you to do the same tho!

Well I had to give up the big piss up idea because I really really NEED these antibiotics to work.

They have to say on the information if they are affected by alcohol, but be warned, if you do have a drink this week you'll get much tipsier much faster.

As long as you finish the course it doesn't matter when you start ;)

It really does not say anything on the information sheet. I have checked twice. :shocking: shocking eh!

The only one that has really nasty side effects with drinking is metronidazole
