Fraserburgh, called Baile nam Frisealach in Gaelic and The Broch in Scots, is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on the extreme North East corner. It is 40 miles north of Aberdeen.

It is the largest shellfish port in Europe. Fraserburgh is also a major white fish port and a busy commercial harbour. Fishing is the town's main industry but it offers other attractions. There are some historical points, a beach, sports such as cycling, tennis, skatepark, football pitches, a golf course, restaurants, and shopping locales. Fraserburgh harbour authority owns one of Europe's most modern ship repair facilities for fishing vessels.

See, when you asked the question 'what is your town famous for?' I would never think of the 'famous' people that came from there. I would think about what actually puts places on the map - eg York, I would think of Minster, vikings etc. Not xyz celebrity who either lived in York or was born there.

As did I. Though to be fair, the only "famous" thing I can think of from Stafford is Neil Morrisey. And maybe our RAF base used to be, as it is quite big. But only if you're into that sort of thing, as I didn't even realised we had an RAF base til I was about 13/14 (despite living down the road from it, and going to school next door to it)

Apparently Freya Copeland (in Emmerdale, or was, apparently) is from here too. And Fran Healy (Travis lead singer) was as well... despite me thinking he was Scottish.

And we're famous for shoe making apparently. Hm.... I come from a boring town.

According to Wikipedia, "The area is famous for its beaches and is Athens' nearest beach and Piraeus' only beach."
Also a lot of people from the area that now is western Turkey migrated here, when they were forced to leave there. I'm not descended from them however.
