find an activity you enjoy rather than just slogging your guts out at the gym. maybe try to get a couple of friends to do it with you. that way you'll have fun at the same time, and you'll be more likely to stick at it.

that's my gem of wisdom for now...

that is pretty much all you can do, and it is great that you are doing things like eatting better and getting exercise and not doing drastic things like starving or types of surgery or pills, don't do those. when you are eating, make sure to have fruits and vegatables and make sure you are getting carbs and protien, but don't over do it. just keep to the pyramid, also when exercising, do cardio at least 4 times a week for at least 15 minutes and add some light weights in a couple times a week. also, the most important... learn to accpet yourself no matter what you look like

you could try getting a yoga video coz its really easy to follow and not only will you loose weight but you can get more flexable. also its cheaper than joining a gym

EAT WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY AND STOP WHEN YOU ARE FULL

sorry for the caps its my way of helping me to take my own advice.

and as my_name said accept yourself the way you are.... loosing weight wont happen overnight so start by learning to accept and even appreciate what you have... so that its not a matter of 'when im thin i will be happy' coz thats a load of bollox

oh yeah and TRY JOGGING its cheap and exellent for the body and the mind.

Are you actually overweight? Or are you feeling down because a pair of jeans won't fit?
There is no set form for beauty; from Sophie Dahl to Liberty Ross, big is beautiful but skinny is sexy and all the other clichés I could mention on the way.
If losing the weight will make you happy then go for it. But if you're battling with your self image then it is not fair on you to put yourself through something that could destroy your body.

That said, eat veggies and fruit as snacks and instead of pudding. Cut down on fat but don't elliminate it from your diet and chat to your PE teacher about exercises.

Sophie Dahl isn't overweight though. Even so called "larger" models are not (like the ones you see on This Morning. They look great. Overweightness does not look great.

water speeds up your metabolism. you should drink at least 8 pints of water every day.
also i have just been told this:
after any cardio-vascular exercise, dont eat anything for 2 hours...apparently while you are working out, your metabolism is using up
calories and when you stop working out your metabolism is still working so if you dont eat anything for 2 hours then there are no calories there, so burns up the fat.
this is what my sis told me about a guy she knows who does it to lose weight.
i dont know if it works i will have to try it.
good luck

8 pints of water could be too much for some people. I think you mean 8 glasses. And even that's too much for some.

Many experts say around 2 litres is the optimum about to drink every day.

Are you sure? My physiology professor told us that it was perfectly safe to drink over a gallon of water a day as long as you maintained decent electrolyte levels.

He also said the more you drink the better because it makes your kidneys work less intensely.

SexyLouise,

Try doing a search. I've answerred this type of question a few times qnde i know that Alistair has done this a few times too.

In general, do what everyone else has said. Drink plenty of a water, find an exercise you enjoy and do it regularly, and try to cut out the empty calories-like soda or candy.

i always thought yoga helped you to loose weight but i realised that it gets you feeling motivated and relaxed enough to
wantto loose weight! kind of a brainwashing way of loosing weight but hey! if it works for geri halliwell, id love to give it a try! however i dont think i could stand all that talk of "relax and let your mind float away"!!! lol

Depends how much exercise you do.

If I drank 2 litres on an average day I would be seriously under hydrated. Some days when I'm training I will drink 4-5 times that.

Hey! My advice is that youy drink only water no fizzy pop and everytime a t.v commercial comes on the television while you are watching a programme try and do 30 sit-ups.

I never said Sophie Dahl was overweight; just that you didn't need to be stick thin to look good!
The danger of loosing weight is that you can loose too much weight; Sophie Dahl is an example that you can be 'bigger' than the majority of models ('bigger' strictly in inverted commas) and be one of the most beautiful women around. She was voted model of the year in Elle last year.

I have watched a friend lose weight from a size 16 to a size 8, and to be quite frank, she looks ill now. My earlier post stated that when you lose weight, you should be sensible and not starve yourself otherwise it looks wrong.
Sorry if it looked like I was slagging anyone off - I wasn't!

with exercise the best advice i can give is just to cross train, ie dont just do one thing, for example,do exercise bike for 20 mins 3 days a week, yoga every day and walk whenever you can, you dont necessarily have to join a gym, for me that'd be too intimidating
