After posting my first message yesterday, and being given a really good website to follow it up with. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had any self eperience with any type of childhood eczema, and might have any good advice that i could look into to try and help my sons condition until he goes to see a consultant????

Thanks to everyone who has given me advice so far )

I had it until I was about ten or so....

It was really painful but I think what my mom did that made it better was make me take a bath with oatmeal in it? Sorry, it was a long time ago so I can't be sure. I'll ask her when I talk to her next.

The other thing that I got was cortisone cream from my doctor which helped a little bit. Unfortunately you can't use it regularly because it makes your skin thinner.

Other than that I can't give you any advice except that I grew out of it, hopefully your son will as well. It's a shame that he's so young.

    Good Luck.

That water hardness is a good point - I got eczema a few tears ago and I brought up that point with my mum. We've got hard water in our area but when she found out the cost of those water softeners she said fuck it, you can scratch.
    It's worth checking out though.

I think my sister who has eczema uses eumovate cream and E45 moisturising lotion to keep her skin moist because she gets worse eczema when her skin is really dry
