Where is my mind?

SystemSystem Posts: 8,623 Staff Team
OK, Ive been suffering with depression for over a year now, as well as self-harming espiodes (normally cutting). Im getting professional help for it (Im on fluoxetine and Ive been referred to the psychotherapists), thats not the problem. The problem is that its finally caught up with my academic work at University, and Im worried.

Its not that Im too stupid to do the many essays currently piled up on my desk, its just that, somehow, I am unable to do them. I cant get motivated, and I find it impossible to concentrate on anything academic...Ive also started skipping more and more lectures and Ive even pulled sickies on a couple of seminars. Anyway, its got to the stage where Ive got like six essays due in during the next fortnight, including one tomorrow and one on Monday (not started) and I dont know what to do.

Would it be possible to talk to a lecturer, explain the situation and get an extension? In most cases I find that they are understanding towards late assignments, as long as they know they're going to late. Not very original advice, but I hope it helped
