I am the one who posted the hair loss problem sad man... I've just heard from my flatmate that drinking tap water could be a cause for hair loss, as tap water contains some chemical which is harmful to the hair. I've been drinking tap water all the time, I can't say that is not the reason for my hair loss. I just want to know anyone heard of this thing about tap water?

I've never heard of that. And besides, you don't really have a choice do you? It's not as if you can buy Evian all the time. (Or maybe you can).

Basically, I wouldn't worry about tap water. It's unlikely to be causing your baldness - especially if your family has a history of balding.

if it were tap water, wouldn't everyone go bald, including the ladies ? tap water tastes foul though

Tap water is perfectly safe, and doesnt cause balding. If anything, it has oestrogen in it, so youre less likely to bald, but nmore likely to have breasts

Dont worry. The only reason to not drink tap water is cos it tastes minging.

anyway, it's hassles not drinking tap water - i can't cos it has fluoride in it, and it triggers my ME, and believe me, that's not one thing you want to cut out of your diet - it's to expensive and time consuming. I don't know much about it, but have you seen your doctor? hair loss can be caused by stress too.

I always think that tap water is okay since I have a water filter but actually that only gets rid of the metal and not things like oestrogen...egads. What a false sense of security I've built up for me.

If it's any consolation, I also lose a lot of hair. Maybe it is caused by tap water.

It depends on where you live. London water is yuck, Birmingham water is yum. B'ham water had fluoride added to it which can cause discolouring to the teeth, loads of people have taken the authorities to court here over it.

I know for a fact that the water in Cardiff makes my hair fall out more than anywhere else as literally loads comes out when I wash it. I don't think it could make anyone go bald though.

i drink Aberystwyth tap water, which is amongst the best water in the UK coz its completely unpolluted. it is of a higher standard than many bottled mineral waters. in fact, did you know that the majority of ottled waters would not pass as fit for human consumption if they were sent down pipes as tap water? many wells are in fact in urban areas - Highland Spring is a particularly bad offender. it draws from an urban area and contains worryingly high levels of Uranium. needless to say, i advise evryone to avoid it - tap water is far safer.
