Help! Hair Loss!!

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I am really a bit depressed at the moment, as I noticed in these few months, my forehead is getting larger and larger! I have been losing hair and now I've got M-shaped hair. Gosh I am only 20 something, is that normal? Or is there anything I can do about it?

For some people hair loss comes at an early age!!! It seems you are one of these people.

Is your father or grandfather bald if so your doomed. I will be bald at some point in my life(if not fallen out then torn out!!)as my old pops was bald.

The only thing I can think of is to get a skin head and keep it as I think the hair around the side of the head looks daft. If not the only other alternative I can think of is the dreaded wig.

Sorry if the info isnt of any use

I think we're assuming you're male, in which case it is normal for some people to start balding in their twenties.

And I'm afraid there aint a lot you can do about it. Unless you believe that mumbo jumbo about magic potions that will make your hair grow.

    Don't worry about it.

    Yeah I am male.

Everytime I saw people with long thick hair, like Brad Pitt, it made me sad as I know in my life I will never ever have such hair again.......

I always understood hair loss was a maternal familial trait. i.e. it's your mother's father you need to have a look at/find out about. This could help give you some perspective about your hair loss.

There is something you can do about it. You can use either Propecia or Rogaine. They aren't guaranteed to work, but in most people they at least let you keep the hair you have already without losing more. They work in different ways, Rogaine helps you grow hair while Propecia stops it from falling out, ,so you can use them both together if you want. My roommate has done this for the last year and his hair loss has stopped.

Losing your hair is the most depressing thing that can happen to a bloke - you have no idea what it's like until it happens to you. It's not a problem that you can hide and although it sounds sad, you do get jealous of people with nice thick hair.

Can you imagine never having a hairstyle? It's amazing how much difference hairy can make on someone

Mine is getting very thin now and I'm 25. Soon I'm going to have to go and get it shaved off but I'm kinda scared. WHo fancies a bald bloke? No-one that's who :-(

Propecia is supposed to work but it's not available in the Uk yet (unless you pay a fortune from dodgy net companies) so there's really not much you can do apart from wear a hat!

Regaine for women is a lower strength, but sometimes severe loss in women results in using for men.

This is available at your pharmacy, and is a little bit pricy. but the best thing out. ts a spray, you spray a bit and rub it in after washing your hair.
