Hey all,
I've just been told I suffer with IBS. The doctor gave me tablets - Mebeverine - and I've only taken a couple but they seem to be making the problem worse.
Does anyone else suffer with this? I've been told by friends with this that I should change my diet - how? My doctor didn't inform me of any of this.
Please help!

Might be of some use <IMG SRC="smile.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">
She told me to eat only basic foods and then build different foods into the diet and see if this affected me. To be honest that all seemed like to much hassle so I didnt bother
I decided to keep a diary of what I was eating and when I had an attack. And I've found that fatty foods, rich foods and alcohol normally bring on an attack. Smoking also doesnt help not sure why?
Im going to see a specialist tomorrow about my IBS because its now caused me to have piles. If he gives me any useful info about the condition I'll let you know.
You need to give medication time to start working, so be patient. I told my doctor what i eat: tons and tons and tons of fresh f&v and lots of wheat based cereal (weetabix type stuff) and wholemeal bread etc. He said that was really good and that my diet in fact wouldn't really affect my condition that much.
I think it varies: some people say eat loads of fibre, whilst some say cut it right down. I was told that eating dairy stuff, especially cheese, would make it much worse so try to cut down on that stuff.
