smoking & depression

I've had a dip in my depression again and wondered if smoking actually helped at all...

So with one hand on the wheel
The other out the window
With a smile on my face
My middle finger up...
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

nah, it doesnt. it obviously eases the craving for nicotine, but that's about it.
i just personally enjoy the act of inhaling and exhaling smoke.

i dont think it will actually help your depression sel, it might make you feel a little more relaxed, even though in reality tobacco is a stimulant

lol, i must sound such a hypocryte...

    hi,

Smoking will take away the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal (obviously), which can include depression, so it might help.

but having said that, when I tried to quit I had serious mood swings and depressed patches but when I started smoking again I found that there was stuff that had nothing to do with the smoking that was making me feel crap...

    so really it depends.

I don't think the govt. would advertise cigarettes as a cure for depression.

There's no known medical proof that smoking helps to stop depression. As the others said it's probably the nicotine relief that helps + it does help relax U.

Personally I just like the nicotine!
