I've had a dip in my depression again and wondered if smoking actually helped at all...

i just personally enjoy the act of inhaling and exhaling smoke.
i dont think it will actually help your depression sel, it might make you feel a little more relaxed, even though in reality tobacco is a stimulant
lol, i must sound such a hypocryte...
Smoking will take away the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal (obviously), which can include depression, so it might help.
but having said that, when I tried to quit I had serious mood swings and depressed patches but when I started smoking again I found that there was stuff that had nothing to do with the smoking that was making me feel crap...
so really it depends.

There's no known medical proof that smoking helps to stop depression. As the others said it's probably the nicotine relief that helps + it does help relax U.
Personally I just like the nicotine!
