okay so after secretely wanting one of these all year (since i played on my cousins last christmas, and throughout the year haha) iv got quite a bit of money for christmas so I'm going to buy myself one.

Just wondered what peoples opinions are on them, obviously now I'll be getting one of those DS Lite ones. Does anybody know if theres any good deals going on them? £99 is the cheapest I've seen them, although ideally i'd like some kind of games package cos once I've bought the DS, i'll only be able to afford one game!

Also any game recommendations? I know I'll be buying Animal Crossing :D

im excited! is this weird for a 22 year old girl? oh well!

I have one, and I like the thing. Animal Crossing is good, many people keep playing for months and months (though I got bored after a couple). Other good ones that I have are Mario 64DS, Mario Kart, Another Code: Two memories, New Super Mario bros, Nintendogs (same as Animal Crossing).
Ones I don't have but are thought to be good are Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario & Luigi lost in time, Phoenix Wright...

Keep in mind that the above lists are jumbled, which you might like depends on what kind of games you like.

    Nope :D

I've been playing on my brother's DS Lite that he got for Christmas and I love it!

My Dad has said he's gonna buy me one for my 21st next month. Yay.

Why is the DS Lite selling for so little at Marks & Sparks???

I want 1 too and im 19 so dont think it is sad at all.

Went shopping for 1 everywhere yesterday and couldnt get 1. Toys r us had the best offers on by far with a system and accessory pack and 2 games for £120 or 5 games for £150, some of the games are not that good though.

i got one :] ending up getting one from toys r us mainly because it was the only place they had them in stock! I got the DS and Pirates of the Carribean came with it (not really my choice of game) and it was £110.

So I've now got Animal Crossing, Super Mario Bros and Pirates Of The Carribean. I've not really got into the whole code and multi user games yet, mainly cos i dont know anybody else who has one  does the person have to be in teh same room? Just with Britjames saying anyone wants his code made me a bit confused.

You played phoenix wright ace attorney? That's a great game if you can get it. Tis a story game where you uncover clues and then cross-examine witnesses to get them outta trouble :-)

Trauma Centre is brilliant- I cant save half the patients but its fun trying to be a surgeon!

Mario Kart is brill too- but be warned, can get seriously competitive with mates

I've (tried) to play the japanese version, but it's .. in japanese :P But yeah I remember hearing something about it being released in US/EU

Apparently the DS has a stellar 2007 lineup

So is £99 without games the normal price for a DS?

I dunno, seems a bit pricey... if there are any deals about ;) let us know!

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
There are occasional deals, but the price is worth it :P.

I'm stuck on trauma center on the level with the anurisms that spring up, I get to the end with the 5 anurisms and I cant inject them all in time usually, and one bursts :(

Jim i'll send my DS to you and you can complete it :P heh

im trying to find a cheapish 2nd hand one at the moment, not having much look, ebay is overpriced as usual. found a old DS not the lite version for £50, might just go for that......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Dont do it :P The lite is worth it.

I bought my DS from ebay second hand, for like 85 quid, for 15 quid extra i could've got a brand new black one, but it does the job

Ehhh not down by me no, but in the lower high-st there's a shop to the right of the laundrette which buy and sell phones and things so they may, DS's are still pretty popular though so i'm not sure what kinda discount you'd get. Worth the extra £50 though yeah :). Although essentially the original DS will play all the same games etc, but it's a brick,
