    I'm sorry but 'because it is' does not count as an answer. Thats like saying it rains because it rains. I would say that it is probably wrong because animals are seen as 'other' to humans. We are not supposed to interbreed with other species as they are competition - a lion wouldn't mate with a rabbit, a tuna fish wouldnt mate with a cod. It is an instinct to treat interspecies 'sex' as wrong.

    HOW do people have "loving relationships" with dolphins, though? How the fuck do they co-habit or is it just a fuck and run kinda scenario? DO they shag on dry land, in the sea or do they find a nice secluded desert island somewhere?

    Since you happen to ask...

    ...quite similarly to whales actually :D. The male will swim alongside and play with the female (swimming close to her, usual frolics) and then has an extendible penis that he can control :D. He manoeuvres it into position and they have great sex.

    Not surprising actually since whales are the same family of species as whales. :thumb:

    Im sure the horse wouldn't know what was going on. I think even a horse would think "what kind of man wants to shaft a horse :eek2:" and wouldnt think anything of it. lol

    You think someone who'd force rape a horse would have a second thoughts about inflicting pain upon it if it didn't co-opperate?

    IMHO it's strange to argue that having sex with an animal is only wrong because of consent issues when killing it for food doesn't cross the same consent boundary.

    It does leave an interesting moral question though- is eating meat worse than abusing an animal but leaving it alive? If we were to discuss humans then most people would say that murder is worse than rape or sexual abuse (even though Shipman murdered with relative humanity, he's still considered to be worse than Imiela), but with animals the reverse seems to be true.

    because just the though of it sickens me and u cant ask the animal for consent either so it could be classed as sexual harressment and if u go that far with an animalmaybe even rape

    I belive that having sex with animals is totally wrong, eating an animal is just a quick painless death, but having sex with it abusing it while it is still alive which is illegal. Like a previous poster said, its like abousing a small child, they dont know any better. Though obviously abusing a child is far worse.

    i think the act of having sex with an animal is neither wrong nor right. the act only becomes either wrong or right once humans determine wether it is wrong or right.

    having sex with animals, however, is considered a taboo in most cultural norms. i think cultural norms developed because it is a structure that increases the survival of those within that culture or of the species as a whole. sex with animals, or with different species, may have even preceded the cultural taboo because animals dont usually have sex with other species.

    Interestingly enough, I went to a session at the American Anthropological Association Conference and there was a session called 'The Orgasm'. One of the papers presented was called 'Animal Orgasms' and the guy (Don Kulick) talked about the anthropological background to animal porn, the role of women in animal porn etc. It was very interesting. As an aside, often the animal doesn't have a chance to resist because normally they are tied up and/or drugged, so they are basically helpless.

    As an aside, the guy who wrote the paper sat through 40 odd hours of animal porn to write his paper...

    And bonobos have sex for pleasure, as well as face to face sex which was thought to only be applicable to humans.
