We do the same. Won't go up a day before. I think that 25 days of decorations is enough tbh.

I don't understand why people put their decs up so early, other than to stupidly compete with the neighbours! I mean, when we have a birthday we don't get the balloons and banners out months before, do we? Or do some of you?!!

We don't do that. And we don't put our Christmas decorations up early either, usually 12 days before or sometimes slightly earlier.

24 days to have your decorations up is plenty.

My mum always said decorations should go up on Christmas eve and come down on the Epiphany, and insists that any other way is bad luck.

Works for me. Decorations more than a couple of weeks before Christmas is just silly.

You are the first person I've EVER met/seen/known/whatever to do that too. Our decorations go up in the week before Chrismas, but we decorate the tree on Christmas eve, and take it down on the Epiphany. Everyone at school always thought we were weird. :D

Why is it? I always thought it made it feel really Christmassy to do the tree on Christmas Eve, and it was really special. We'd make cakes and things as well, and it was just really nice. I think having decorations up for not so long makes you enjoy them more. Having them up for ages and you just get bored of them.

Lucy would you like me to climb back up the ladder and take the lights down from on top of the house and pack the tree away for another two weeks? :p j/k

I dont know why people get so up tight about putting decorations up early, that is wind you up so much? The shops hang theres up early, why shouldnt anyone else?

I agree sometimes people see it as a special family thing to decorate the tree on xmas eve, but usually when you have young children in the family its nice for them to have the decorations up early.

Actually, that's the way we've always done it and there have always been young children. I've got 3 younger siblings and they've always enjoyed having the tree up late as well.

Maybe Christmas eve is a bit extreme for some people, 12 days before seems about right. I just think that it's ridiculous to put them up in November!

Can't you encorporate this into your new porn career ?

'Morning madam, i've been up the ladder all day and fixed you Christmas decorations'

'Oooo thank you, but i can't seem to find my purse and my husband's out. However will i pay you ? '

you shouldn't have bothered then.

i think outside decorations are really tacky. except when people have little twinkly lights in their window or on the outside so they're like icicles.

Nahh, it's the way forward. We always used to have a real tree too, so if you bought it too far before the 23rd, by new year all the needles would have fallen off.

    LOL

It sounds like one of them 70's porn movies when the guy of the 118 advert walks in "I come to fix your washer machine". :D

Thats a good idea though, there's a model up the road from me, I could offer to hang her lights up for her, but knowing my luck it would be her dads room and hes twice my size. :nervous:

Thats nice imo. Maybe abit more variety of coloured lights.

Theres a house up the road in Bromley that's on TV every year as the most decorated house. They do it for charity.

Every year when I go past there's always a group of Chinese with there cameras.

I quite like lights on the outside of houses, or in the windows. Just lights though, none of that crap like flashing bells or trains or inflatable santas hanging off the window. Like the monstrosities you get the back of the Argos catalogue. Eurgh.

    :shocking: :sour:

People who do that to their houses should all be forced to live in a little community together.
