You can work in a shop from 16 but not on checkouts etc where alcohol is purchased.

Unless it's changed with the new licensing laws you can. I've often been in Tesco and Sainsbury, especially on a Saturday and the assistant has held up say the bottle of wine im buying and gone 'Alcohol purchase' to which a supervisor looks at me then gives a nod to the checkout guy/woman.

at sainsburys you can start at 15. we used to call them the milk and cookies, coz they could only work until 7pm. I dont think it has changed. I worked in a chip shop when I was 13, so Id just check out your local area.

Sounds like it depends on the shop then.

 me too. More to the point, why are you replying just to have a go at her?

Also bex has barely used text talk, so I don't think it's a problem.

ETA: you might find this article on work for under 18s helpful

    I worked at Sainsbury's at 15 :)

The laws are much stricter for under 16s though so most supermarkets can't be bothered with it unless you live in an area with very low unemployment levels.

You could only do the 5-7pm shift on a school night but could do more at weekends and holidays.

You could do checkouts but had to have alcohol sales overseen by an adult.
