Its a hormonal matter causing you to lactate. I think its wise seeing your DR.

I wouldn't worry as such, but if it doesn't stop I'd see a GP or practise nurse. Wouldn't bother with NHS Direct on this one.

My mate often gets lactating nipples (clear or light white) when on a cycle of steroids, and hes certainly not pregnant. Its to do with progestorone (sp?) sides.

    Nipple discharge

Nipple discharge is the abnormal release of fluid from the nipples of the breasts. It is the third major reason, involving the breasts, for which women seek medical attention, after lumps and breast pain. The risk of nipple discharge increases with both age and number of pregnancies, but is also known to occur in adolescent boys and girls going through puberty. Discharge often is the result of stimulation of the breasts or by irritation through clothing.

    Types of discharge

There are many different types of discharges. Some associations include:
cloudy white color -- most common, can be galactorrhea
clear or light white -- pregnancy
red -- contains blood -- most often due to breast infection or intraductal papillomas, but can be breast cancer
    pus -- infection

To be on the safe side, yes.

If it happens again or doesn't stop then yes, apart from anything else I can only imagine it would be really annoying and they can probably work out how to stop it!

I don't really know, why didn't you ask your GP this? We're not qualified, yanno.

I expect it's just standard protocol.

He doesn't think its anything serious but then I just work myself up about stuff

If it makes you feel any better, that happened to me. Turned out i had some kind of infection that cleared up with antibiotics, despite me being convinced i was gonna die.

Wouldn't be worried, the blood tests are probably to make sure they give you the right thing to treat it first time round rather than taking a best guess.

He think it may be due to my pill, which is annoying coz I can't seem to find the right one.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
You'll find one eventually, there are loads out there!

The blood test will give him a better idea of what is causing it and if it is to do with your pill show up which hormone levels are wrong, thus enabling him/you to make a momre informed choice on which may not cause problems.
