If I submit a letter of resignation, do I have any legal right to withdraw it?

Yes you can ask to take it back but they don't have to let you
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
    uh oh. What've you done?

Depends if you've got the front. Do you really want to be sitting in a job when all your peers know that you were happy to quit?
They probably wont want you working there now anyway because you've shown a lack of commitment toward them. Even if they did decide to keep you on theres always a chance they could let you go for some silly reason a few weeks down the line..
You never know though, if you resigned in a heat of the moment argument you might still have a career with them..

You have given notice to quit, it isn't binding unless its been accepted, and the company can always keep you on if they want. It depends on how much your boss likes you.

Has another job fallen through or did you just resign in a radge?

No it's not. People can have radges. A radge is like a lost temper. It's a noun, similar to rage but not the same.

It could be a regional slang. It is definitely a word that I have used and know of many people that use it too. It isn't a typo.

So how would you say it?

Erm ... r-a-j. As in rhyming with badge.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Radge rhymes with badge, and is a north-east dialectal word which means to lose one's temper or be a bit mental.

Booty Skank, if you're wanting to recall your notice (usually) either you resigned in a huff and regret it, or the new job you wanted didn't happen. There's no need to be abusive.

And there's no need to be so patronisingly presumptious. For your information it's neither - I'm thinking of a radical career change and am looking at all options, as well the consequences of each.

Booty are you having a laugh to see who you can wind up first or something? Or are you just strange, don't have very good people skills and find abuse and insults in a simple conversation, that really isn't like that?

Sorry for being presumptious- I didn't think anyone would be dumb enough to issue a resignation letter without intending to leave the firm. My mistake:)

Yes it was. As I said, I'm exploring all avenues and eventualities.

You speak as if you know anything about my circumstances - that's pretentiousness!

But still, I know you like to have the last word so go ahead :)

so, er, have you actually handed in a resignation letter that you now want to recall or not? If you have, under what circumstances did you hand it in as I cannae think of owt but a "radge" or other job offer for a reason to do it...
