3 friends have a meal in a resturant, It comes to £25. The 3 friends pay the waiter £10 each & the waiter gives the cashier £30. The cashier hands the waiter £5 but he cant split it 3 ways so he gives them each back £1 and keeps £2 as a tip!
So they all paid £10 and got £1 back £10-£1=£9!3x£9=£27 so if they paid £27 and the waiter got £2 where did the other £1 go? £30-£1=£29
Oh i'm so confused

£10 per person = £30 total
A pound back means each has paid £9 - 3x9 = £27
£27 - £2 tip = £25 meal
Simple. Read through it properly.
That's the wrong calculation. The other pound was a part of the money they paid for the meal, not the change they got back.
