    That's the kind of name I love! A name that means something in the person's language.

    She was English, I am afraid.

    It means "Ocean" - large body of water.

    That's what I meant. :confused:

    She was English, so her language is English, and since "Ocean" is a word in English (that doesn't mean something bad), "Ocean" is a good name.

    I freakin hate the nickname misch or mish or mich or however you want to spell it. The full name michelle is no better! I also dislike names that are so common you have to have fat/old/dumb/short etc as an identifyer. Who wants to be known as Hairy Claire?

    And me. There was a mum and a little girl at my mum's creche once. The mum's name had been made up by her parents when she was born (I think it's Usha), but when she had her little girl she wanted to call her Ocean. Her parents said it wasn't original enough (:confused:) so she hit back.... by taking the N off. :D As odd as it is, I've always thought it was rather pretty.

    Making names up, I don't mind. Using words like Ocean, and Summer, or months of the year... I don't mind that either, to a degree (Though I find name's like Ikea, and Apple ridiculous). Places are OK... I personally dislike them but not to a point where I'd hate them all, some are nice.

    It's stupid spellings that piss me off. :D

    I am going to call my child Poppleton.

    If it's a girl, you could use that as her middle name and name her Poppy Poppleton [surname] :D. She'd virtually be a celebrity baby!

    ETA: I suppose in the world of celebrity children, the baby owuldn't necessarily need to be a girl for you to use that name either!

    I was in the supermarket yesterday and heard a mother shouting at her son;

    "no Santino..."
    "put it back Santino"
    "stop it Santino!"
    ...what a ridiculous name! :lol:
