I'm swapping a laptop

Pentium Centrino M 1.60ghz
504mb RAM
Intel Graphics

for a nice desktop system. 64bit 1.2 gigs RAM

question is, what OS should i put on the new rig. Download RC1 of vista? or the XP 64. i'd prefer XP 64 - is that called Corporate edition? or just Win XP 64

    Put both on - Dual Boot that way you have the option to pick what OS You fancy

    Yes. it's an ASUS K8V-MX has mixed reviews, but i'm sure it'll be fine for my purposes.

    I just tested Windows Vista thought it was kinda rubbish, detected less of my hardware then XP normally does.

    What version did you use?

    Im using RC2 And it detected all but 3 of my drivers which i had stored in folders on XP So there was no problem there

    How has it managed 1.2 gigs of RAM?

    RAM? i'm guessing 1 x 1024 and one 256 module.
    probably isn't going through now - someone's poached my new PC. gazumped

    Are 256's still around? If you get it you might want to take ithe 256 out as I'm sure that extra module of a strange size will be slowing the system down somewhat.
