    Not stupid if that's your opinion. The point is that some people like to chat in real time. We wouldn't run it if nobody turned up. It's still the chance to discuss whatever you like, just in a faster medium. Some people don't like to do that - and that's fine too. :)

    No. The Student Network Service is not setup to allow access to IRC. IRC is generally considered a security risk and many computer attacks use IRC.

    Why were you trying to connect there? And what does thesite chat have to do with IRC? :confused:

    AFAIK it has nothing to do with irc, not sure though. As for the message, I thought you tried to put that link in your browser.
