I'd honestly rather use public transport, because I do care about the environment, and I do care about pollution.

But instead of it being a realistic and presentable alternative, its a fucking nightmare. Before the new road to my village was built the bus would get stuck in the same traffic jam as the cars, which removes the whole point of getting the bus, but stupidly now the new road is built the bus service has got MORE unreliable. Probably because the drivers now know that they can leave the depot 15 minutes late and still clock off their shift on time if they drive fast enough (which they do).

It was less stressful, and more reliable, to do the 20-mile commute to Sunderland by bus and Metro that I did two years ago than it is to do the 7-mile commute to town by bus now. The problem seems to be the huge number of Poles and Romanians that the bus company have taken on in the last three months- its certainly the only thing that's changed.

People always smoke on the bus (YUCK)..if you ask them to stop you get abuse thrown at you. I've also been spat at on the bus and seen people get mugged/beaten up.

I thought there was some sort of no smoking law on the buses? Well, on the ones in Plymouth there are.

When I went to school I used to have to wait to get a bus. There was supposed to be a bus at half past eight which would get me to school for about quarter to since it was usually relatively empty and fast. But no. It had to come late so then we it would stop at EVERY stop picking up old women, schoolkids, women and schoolkids and all the people going up to the DSS offices on Maryhill Road.

So not only have I just spent the past ffiteen minutes freezing in the rain (at winter, snow) but I have to endure screaming kids, old fogeys complaining about "All the weans" well, Mrs, maybe if you had had waited until AFTER 9 o clock there wouldn't be all these children on the bus.

After dropping off most of the women and children and the various people going to the DSS we would have to stop for 5 minutes while all the old fogeys get off the bus at ASDA. We would get into school late, the teachers wouldn't believe that we were actually at the bus stop on time and we'd get into trouble.

The same goes for after school finioshes when the old fogeys would complain about children on the bus, sorry but don't we have a right to get home on public transport too?

Don't even get me started on the bus drivers who pack the bus so full noone can even breathe. Also the time i was 15 and going to the school Disco. The fucking wanker driving the bus wouldn't accept i was under 16 and made me pay adult fare

Oh, definitely. They get on the student bus and complain about the kids on it. There's a bus every fucking hour back to Braintree, and they use the ones that are going to be packed with students at 4 o'clock. It's like.....ARGH.

    Patience is a virtue.

I don't get it, you all should be damn fucking grateful you're getting a bus in the first place cos there's hundreds of millions who don't and have to walk extortionate miles to school or town or wherever they're going.

No offense, but that would be like me popping in every thread where someone's sad about a breakup and saying "You should be grateful you even had someone." Do you see me doing that?

    You're comparing infrastructure with relationships?

ETA:Lets get this straight, any African peasant can get a woman just like any Greek or English person can. They ca't get a bus however to school however. That's the difference.

No, I'm comparing "bad" with "worse". Just because "worse" exists doesn't mean people shouldn't complain about "bad".

Note the word "grateful" It was the main thesis of my argument. :p

I pay my bus fare and as such should expect the service. If there wasn't a bus I would walk, but I'm "lucky" enough to live in a country where there are buses so I use them and to reiterate my point: It is there, I pay for it and i expect to use it and receive a decent service. :)

You're not expectng decent service though. It's a cheap way or getting from A to B, if I want decent service I'll get a taxi.

    Taxis are bloody expensive.

Except it's not cheap. It's £4.60 return at the times I get on. £600 a year for A-Level students, although 'cause I'm an IB student and Colchester is the closest place I can do it, it's £450 a year. But that's still not cheap when you don't have a lot of money.

It would be more expensive in a taxi.

Exactly, you're paying more for privacy, bit of heat and listen to the radio.

On a bus, you pay for what you're getting and I think you should be grateful of that service.

Indeed it's not. Next week if I was to get the bus there and back (twice, to a nursery I have a placement at) it would cost me nearly £7...

I don't pay to have to sit on the stairs every day. I don't pay to sit on a crowded bus twice a day because they can't be arsed to send enough buses for over 200 people in the morning/afternoon. I expect to be able to get a seat, at least. I expect to not have to stand up for an hour, and I expect to be able to get back to Braintree in time to get to work on time, or catch my bus back to my house which leaves 20 minutes after the one from Colchester is SUPPOSED to get back.

Is that REALLY so much to ask for £450 a year? Really?

And I know a taxi would be more expensive. Infinitely more expensive. Which is why I don't get taxis, because they'd be just as shit anyway.

If you feel bad about not having enough buses in the morning, write a letter to your MP. Not the bus drivers fault.

We've done that. There was a petition last year after they sent one single decker bus for 200 people that was nearly 20 minutes late. And it did get better, but now it's gone crap again. And there are more people this year.

Last week they took the 70X out of service because one of the buses on another route had broken down. I wouldn't have minded so much, except it was one of the routes than runs every 10 minutes.

Well, given that Franki has written to her MP and there was a petition, the answer is....

    *drum roll*

    ........yes.

Yep, I can safely say that I have done before now.

Do the bus companies care? Do they fuck. Who cares if they cancel half their services, you'll still be stood in the pissing rain when one does come because you have no other way of getting to work. Less buses = more profit, after all.

I'd hardly call buses cheap, either. My bus ticket costs me £450 a year, and that's with the 25% discount I get through work.

Everyone got a free bus journey. Before a certain date. When we all have bus passes anyway. The buses got a bit better, for a while, now they're just shit again because they have a whole new bunch of people to fuck over.

At least I'm not turning up late to every 9am lesson I have this year. Almost, though.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
    Drunk at 9.35am...quality!

The bus company don't care, and I can't exactly threaten them with anything, can I? There isn't another bus company, I've bought my ticket already, and parking in the city centre is a nightmare. I'll still be stood at the bus stop when one comes up because there isn't anything else I can do, and they make more money if they run two loads of passengers on the same overcrowded bus.

Sorry top drag this up again, but I feel a rant coming on.

The greedy cunts are going on strike next week. Apparently a 12% pay increase isn't enough for the filth, so they're all having the day off to go home and look at pornography all day.

Every single one of the cunts should be immediately dismissed, and they should be made personally liable for every single penny every person in Newcastle loses as a result of this action.

    I wish them all dead.
