Of course there's always McDonalds. Of course flipping burgers isn't that good either but, they don't pay bad, hours are very flexible, and where I worked there was a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed.
A lot of larger retail chains are taking on Christmas Staff at the minute (HMV, Woolworths, Argos, Game, Gamestation, Matalan, Instore, various card shops....and many more I would guess, depending on the area where you live) and these can be great for gaining experience before moving on to a permanent part time job. Christmas jobs are generally easier to come by as they're looking for a bulk of temporary staff, rather than just one person permanently.
What is near to your college? A lot of places will advertise in their windows and in your local paper, so just keep searching and keep asking.
Keep trying!
if you haven't seen her because of work, makes the time you see each other extra special.
I did try to look at restraunts and shop work, but was unable to find anything unless I wanted to give up my whole weekend just to work...
If you are considering supermarkets then ASDA has vowed to pay young workers the same as old
So Asda were already paying 16 and 17 year olds £5.19?!?! That's a hell of a lot at that age.
At Mcdonalds (at least where my friend works) you get £4.21 untill you are 21!
I can't see why any 16/17 year old employee there would be at all unhappy about their wage, that's 2p less an hour than I get and i'm 20.
Oh, and I work at Next. Our 16yo pay isn't great (£4.53) but we're taking CVs for Christmas staff at the moment
avoid places that sell products with alcohol i.e. specialist chocolate shops, supermarkets unless you're stacking, offies.
avoid places that sell DVDs videos and games with age retrictions.
apply to department stores
apply for things you would like to do and are enthusiastic about
have a look around shopping centres, everyone wants xmas temps now
make sure you CV is up to scratch by going to see a conexions worker with it and sometimes they also have information on part time jobs (but it does depend on the area)
look smart when handing out CVs and try to hand them to the manager because many other people will just throw them away.
and btw i'm 16 working for a cosmetics comany and getting paid £5.25 + an hour... but you won't find much more than 8 hour contracts but they can be flexi
Bloody hell, I knew they paid well but :eek2: I'm used to being on £3.50-£4.00 an hour. I applied at ASDA last night, now I really hope they give me a job :crying:
I noticed the cigarettes there going from 16 to 18. Tbh, I agree with it. Our ASDA's already strict on ID'ing though, my boyriend gets ID'd every time he goes for a lottery ticket there (although I don't for some strange reason) but he's been buying them at the same place every week for his mum for 2 years now.
I know Superdrug used to take on younger staff, too.
